Good night,
since the last update of the simulator 1.26.5.0, it is impossible for me to load a flight, it lets me enter the program, but when I select an aircraft, an airport and set a position in the airport and click on “fly” I go to the loading screen, but the blue bar stays halfway and no longer reacts, I have to close the simulator through the task manager. I have the “community” folder empty and previously I had no problem loading flights.
Honestly, every time there is a new update, I pray that it will let me play again, because I have already had several problems in previous updates, is this always going to happen? Sometimes it’s a bit desperate.
Regards,
Carlos
@CharlyBird5584 - One quick point in the event you have not considered this. Whenever there is a new MSFS version released, all 3rd party aircraft addons that utilize WASM modules (like PMDG, Fenix, FBW, etc.) will revert back to how they behaved when they were run the first time. If you are trying to load one of these aircraft, the load time will be significantly extended just like it was the first time you loaded it after the addon was first installed.
If this is the issue, suggest you just wait a good bit longer after hitting “Fly”. Go grab a drink and a snack, then come back to see if the aircraft has loaded. Could take up to 10-15 minutes. This will happen the first time you load any of these type addons after MSFS has been updated. They should each load normally after that.
Thank you very much for your reply Sartanius. In the last update I had the same problem and it was due to my internet connection, I restarted my router and I was able to enter, but now I have done the same and I still can’t load any plane or any airport. I will try to leave it longer to see if I can get it to load, I will let you know.
Regards,
Carlos
After the update my first launch with the MD-82 took 20 minutes as it did it’s first install.
Hello,
Well, unfortunately I have left the screen loading for more than half an hour and the blue bar has not progressed at all. Normally when the bar stayed longer than normal without moving, the text that appears above it kept changing, and in the end the plane and the airport were loaded, but now it stays stopped and the simulator crashes, I have to go to the task manager to close it.
I can not play to sim. Any other suggestions?
Thank you very much and best regards,
Carlos
this is how the display looks like
Thanks for the screenshot, Charly. That helps. Normally when the delay is due to WASM, the bar is much further towards the end before slowing to a crawl.
Have you tried deleting the “content.xml” file? It is located here on my PC MStore installation: C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache
After deleting “content.xml”, MSFS will recreate it the next time MSFS is started.
Thanks to you for your help Sartanius. I did what you told me, and when I started the simulator it did a small update, but it still stays always in that state and doesn’t start the flight. I don’t know what to do.
Thank you very much for all your help.
Regards,
Carlos
Hello,
I have managed to find out why the simulator was not loading and stayed on that screen.
I sometimes use the mod to see google maps instead of bing maps, and sometimes I got that message when the simulator was loading.
translated is:
Your current bandwidth is too low to be able to transmit photogrammetry data correctly.
IGNORE
DISABLE PHOTOGRAMMETRY
That message appeared to me because in the “hosts” file contained in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc, two lines had been left out:
127.0.0.1 kh.ssl.ak.tiles.virtualearth.net.
127.0.0.1 khstorelive.azureedge.net
which caused the simulator not to load. I just had to remove those lines from that file and everything works correctly.
Sartanius, thank you very much for your help, and I wanted to explain what happened to me in case it happens to someone else.
Best regards and thanks for everything,
Carlos
WASM? What on earth is that? Why do you assume that everyone understands these abbreviations?
Hey there, @MilordKen. It is true, assumptions can miss the mark. WASM is an abbreviation for WebAssembly which is a new programming language primarily for web-based applications. Here’s a link to a Wikipedia article.
Disclaimer: I am not a WASM developer. This is just a basic understanding I have. One unique feature of applications developed using WASM is that the first time they are “run” after being distributed, the modules must be compiled. This is why the first time you run the PMDG 737-700 or Fenix A320, for example, there is a significant delay as the modules are compiled. This is a one-time process that then doesn’t have to be repeated until the host application (MSFS) is updated to a new version. This is a basic understanding… I hope it helps a little.
I too have the problem of the blue progress bar stalling after I create a simple flight setup and then click on FLY. I have to use Task Manager to end it. For 18 months I have been enjoying FS marveling at the realism and vivid scenery but in recent times it has gone pear-shaped.
I do not have a Degree in Computer Science. I do not have a deep understanding of how FS works so I dare not attempt to fiddled with it.
So at this time I am locked out. I shall try running the sim again every week or so in the hope that Asobo fixes the problem. Very disappointing.
Hello MilordKen,
have you ever used the mod with google maps, if so check the file I comment in my last subject.
Regards,
Carlos
That`s it!
I had the same problems. Your post got me on the right track.
But there was no need to edit the HOST file by hand.
I just startet the MSFS Map Enhancement.exe, injected Google maps data, and it already worked (with google data)!
Then I switched back to bing maps. The two mentioned host entries disappeared and the flight sim works fine like just born
Thank you very much for sharing your solution!
Mad
I am glad that it has helped you and that thanks to my explanation you have found the way.
Best regards,
Carlos

Your recent post on 18 June about the reason for the sim not loading does not make sense.
I opened the hosts file within the drivers/etc folder using Notepad. Following a multiplicity of comments preceded by the # symbol there remained just the two lines of code that you wrote in your reply to the topic. You said that they were “left out” and you proceeded to remove them. That makes no sense. How can you remove something that was left out?
Anyway, I deleted those two lines but the system didn’t allow me to save the edited hosts file. If I did manage to delete those lines there would be nothing left but comments.
Dear MilordKen,
I am sorry that my solution did not work for you, but I assure you that it worked for me.
Regards.
Yes CharlyBird your fix does work. I did some research and discovered that saving the edited hosts file has to be done in Notepad in administrator mode.
Unfortunately you failed to mention that salient fact.
I’m sorry, but there are things I took for granted.
