Provide WINWING's MCDU compatibility for the inibuilds Airbus family

Airbus family by inibuilds in MSFS2024 is great, both the A320 and the A330. And Winwing’s MCDU is affordable and a great way to prepare flights in the inibuilds’ planes. Why don’t put them together?

Currently you can set the inputs using 3rd parties such as Mobiflight, AAOs, etc. but there is no way to get the screen output, because inibuilds does not provide an API to do so. Would it be possible to implement it?

iNiBuilds is known with the API issue in the A330. Panels like the PFD , ND and ECAM can’t popout. This was already reported months ago. Hopefully SU2 will fix this but I have a feeling that will be false hope since it is a default A/C.

Yep, I have waited 4 months for my mcdu to be delivered, and it will be delivered next week. Initially I thought until it will be delivered I wouldn’t have to worry about it being compatible but seems like the inibuilds mcdu is more closed off than others because neither simapp pro, nor mobiflight are currently able to display the inibuilds’airbusses displays on the winwing mcdu.

Off-topic for this thread but the A330 panels can be popped out, but only in an unconventional way.

  • Load an aircraft with several panels that do popout (I’ve used the PC-12 or PC-24)
  • Pop out every screen in the cockpit
  • Leave the popouts open, but end the flight
  • Load a flight with the A330
  • The popouts you left open from the previous flight will now populate with displays from the A330

There’s no consistency on which screen goes to which popout, so that’s why the more you can have open before loading the A330, the more likely you are to get the displays you want from the A330. You can now close any extra/duplicate popouts and continue the A330 flight as normal with popped out displays.

He he I’m also in that post.

My concern with iniBuilds is that apart from this ‘extras’ for hardware compatibility they also have some Famous Flyers/Local Legends to fix because they’re still broken in MSFS2024. A large list of TODO things

Also include support for the A300-600. I’ve asked for this on the Inibuilds Discord.

I was able to use Spad.NEXT to map the keys of the Winwing to the A306 MCDU, but it’d sure be nice to have the MDCU display work as well.

Hello.

First of all, I love the MSFS24 Ini Builds Airbus A320 v2. It offers me everything I need for my Airbus flights. A huge thank you for this amazing aircraft!

I received my MCU from WinWing a few days ago and was fully expecting the device to work seamlessly with the MSFS24 and the Airbus A320 v2. Unfortunately, it doesn’t. After extensive research, I discovered that the WinWing MCDU doesn’t work with the Airbus A320 v2 in the MSFS24.

I would simply use a different Airbus for my flights. Maybe buy the Fenix Airbus or use the FlyByWire Airbus.

My question: Is it worth waiting for the WinWing MCDU to work, or is this hope hopeless?

Congrats on receiving yours, I have one that just went from preorder to shipping, so sometime soon here. I learned in other threads that the display does not work in the v2 due to their API, so no I would not wait on that when mine arrives. The MCDU is my incentive to check out either the Fenix or FBW A320, as I have only recently switched from Series X to a PC. Right now I’m loving the FMC version in the PMDG 738 in 2020, and just this past week in the 2024 Max 8. Have fun!

In any case, you can have the buttons working using a Mobiflight or AAO’s profile (you won’t have the display). I built mine for Mobiflight and the FBWs A320, but you can find any of them in flightsim.to.

I went back to the FBW’s one. However, this way is not flawless, as FBW does not officialy support MSFS2024 yet

@Nikita
So you are an official representative of Microsoft and/or Asobo?

Well, actually, in their forum iniBuilds don’t say they are not going to do it. However, I agree they probably have a large list of priorities before developing an API for the people that uses WINWING’s MCDU. That’s why I created this thread, to try to convince Microsoft to push in that direction.

No, why do you ask?

As you probably know, I’ve got Boeing FMC PFP 3N - got a real taste for it and today I ended up buying the MCDU as well. I realized that while flying the FBW A32NX, I kept glancing at the FMC all the time, so I thought… why make it harder for myself? Just went for the MCDU!

MCDU & FMC for the 77W & 777F arrived this afternoon! I just got it up and running in the 777F, now I need to plan a flight LOL. These things are terrific. The MCDU will get me back into a Bus, could be a year or two since. Should I go for the FBW next?

Absolutely, no question - you should definitely give the free A32NX by FBW a try! It’s an incredible project that keeps getting better with each update - A32NX is the perfect next step.

Assuming we do all this in 2020 first to use the MCDU?

Climbing out of Memphis now in the freighter headed for Miami. The FMC feels so much more intuitive to use as hardware than on screen, faster too. Wizzed through FMC preflight!

Same, got the Winwing MDCU and the PFP3 (the 737 FMC). I’ll stop there…the PFPs for the 777 and 747 are a bit overkill when I can use SPAD.next to custom map the slightly-different buttons.

The MDCU is great for the Fenix (obviously), but also used for the TFDi MD11 as well (Spad is able to render the screen of that, so works very well with a couple of button substitutions)

C’mon Inibuilds, join the party with the A306, etc!

Because you are answering a question that is not directed at you!

Hello dear support team from Microsoft and Asobo :slightly_smiling_face:

Could someone from an official side please answer the question:
Is it worth waiting for the WinWing MCDU to work, or is this hope hopeless?

I would be very grateful for a reply. Thank you in advance.

Um, you are misunderstanding the purpose of these Forums, they are not MS tech support which is Zendesk. This is a place for us to help each other and share. The tone of your response to me is also not very friendly, but thanks for answering my question.
