PS5 Controller - ailerons and elevators d not return to neutral when left joystick released

My PS4 controller was working fine natively. When I released the left joystick the ailerons/elevators would return to neutral when released.

When I connected my PS5 controller, I had to map everything manually, which is fine, but when I adjust my ailerons or elevators they remain in position when I release the joystick, and I can’t find an option or mapping that will change this.

This is really bizarre, and I can’t find any help on this. Is there anything I can do, or is the PS5 controller just not natively compatible?

Are you sure you’ve assigned the axes correctly?

You want Ailerons Axis and Elevator Axis, not the separate Aileron Left/Aileron Right mappings. Pretty sure I’ve read that can be responsible for the non-centering.

Thanks so much! I should have known it would be something like this because the Aileron Left/Aileron Right are digital (key only) bindings.

I always used scan instead of selecting an input from a dropdown and I wasn’t able to do this for axes like I could with the camera views.

I have the same problem with my joystick, the flight controls don´t center when releasing the joystick which makes it not realistic to control and it does not feel like real Fly-by-wire.
I hope this controller and joystick problem will get patched some day to be fully able to use the MadCatz joystick.

Wait - this solves the problem? Using X and Y axis instead of left/right/up/down key mappings? Wow thank you very much for this tip! I am sure this tip will work with joysticks too.

I feel a bit stupid for not seeing this one myself.

I had this exact same issue. Reading this has fixed this one for me also. I spent all my time re-centring the ailerons all the time.

Thank you very much. Works very well now.

Also worth going into sensitivity settings and setting a dead zone of about 3%, saves the ailerons moving when your thumb is resting on the joystick.

By the way, anyone figure out how to switch between panels in the menu using a controller?
