Like most, I will be looking into PS5 compatible flight controllers. Until then, and for others that will never get that far, I would love to see the developers make use of the PS5 controller’s motion sensing capabilities. When I first switched to FSX from FS9, before finally purchasing a yoke and rudder pedals, I was unhappy with twisty joysticks and found a console-style game controller with motion sensing. I loved it so much better than the joysticks. It felt more like gripping a yoke and control was much finer.
Gran Turismo is one of the the few titles that really makes full use of the motion sensing PS controllers. It would be nice if MSFS joined that short list.
It’s in the Beta, it works but I would urge the developers to add a warning on screen when gyro control is switched on. It’s switching on/off via L1+L3.
The first few times I switched it on by accident while struggling making a flight plan. Autopilot was on but the wild inputs by unintentional gyro input crashed the aircraft, time after time.
In another play session I still had the yokes visual (I almost always switch them off) so I spotted there was some strange control input that was causing the crashes and I realized it was gyro control.
Best solution (in my opinion) would be a little Gyro Yoke icon that indicates the position of the controller. That would double as an indication for how well the thing is aligned.
Well, shoot… I missed that one. Yes, “gyroscopic” was the word my internal thesaurus couldn’t find. Thanks for steering me in the right direction . Found it, plus the settings to adjust the curve on that and other inputs. Now to start experimenting…
I accidentally turned it on today flying the Cessna 172. It was a handful to use, but intriguing. A curious side effect: There was no need to trim the elevator since motion control had no back/froward pressure to trim out.
As of the latest build release, thanks to your feedback here, there is now a brief pop-up notification if the gyro controls are toggled on or off, that way if it is done accidentally, your are made aware.
