PS5 players have no recourse to refunds. Sony advises they have no record of purchases and Coins are not refundable as they have been “technically” used. A clear case of not being able to get a refund where a purchase is not functional is with the PMDG 737.
PS5 players have no proof of receipts! 1St and 3rd Party refunds have 0% possibility!
Responsibility for the refunds in this instance is 100% NOT clear or how one goes ahead to activate this.
Timelines allowed for use in which it can be determined a product is faulty or not suitable for your use i.e., how many hours/days of use are allowed before one may NOT apply for a refund is not clear in any product - PC/XBox/PS5
Reasons for refusing a refund are never provided thus leaving most of us perplexed as to why some are given it and most others are not.

What peripherals are you using:
[PC Only] Are you using Developer Mode or have you made any changes to it?
[PC, MSFS 2020 Only] Are you using DX11 or DX12?
[PC Only] What GPU (Graphics Card) do you use?
[PC Only] What other relevant PC specs can you share?
Yeah I am really disappointed in the PS5 side of MSFS. I think I am going to issue a refund if it is even allowed at this point. I haven’t played in almost two months now. I do not like the way the sim behaves for me regarding the planes I want to use. The marketplace is mid at best, and my overall experience is just not good. I report bugs through zendesk and nothing really happens, it feels like a lost cause. I really don’t want to but we still don’t have airliners like the A350, 3rd party 787-9, A220, airports, liveries, and more.
Well, this is the refund process. They (Microsoft, the 3rd party devs have nothing to do with it) deliberately use these ‘coins’ to limit refunds, unfortunately. It’s anti-consumer nonsense.
And even if ‘coins’ had some sort of benefit in their internal infrastructure, there is zero reason why a digital purchase can’t be linked for refund purposes. MS just chooses not to do that.
If you bought an aircraft in msfs 2024 on the PS5 - it is not clear who you have paid - there is 0 receipt and zero way of proving it and zero way of knowing exactly who got the money on a PS5 or portions thereof.
Then there is this other thing about 1st and 3rd party - on a PS5 who is the party? Sony? MS/Asobo? Aircraft developer - who gets a cut?
Why are there no receipts? Why is there no process to get funds back from an aircraft/scenery etc that is not working?
It needs to be urgently discussed and a solution found.
I agree 100% What a crazy loophole that is smh , a company (Sony) should allow a full refund for a product that is not working properly. If the “person/company” we paid is the only one who can refund why are they refusing to refund sim coins? That’s the only way we pay for 1st or 3rd party addons which was and I assume a decision made by Microsoft???
As far as we can see, for PS5 sales Microsoft gets 30% and Sony gets 30%, the publisher/developer gets the rest. But for a refund, none of that matters; only the party you paid can issue a refund. We should not make things more complex than they are; the only thing that matters is who you send money to, and I think that is always clear.
OK, we in essence purchase an aircraft within the game, an MS game on a PS5/ SONY machine and system.
How does MS/ Sony issue refunds for other games that have complex party interests such as this.
If Sony, then MS need to make it clear that is where to apply for a refund BUT since they are the legal party they should take the responsibility of negotiating a system with them since it is their product.
It should not be done by the consumer who has 0 hope of conecting with the right people.
On PS5 there is no proof, Zendesk has no record of the purchase. This is what I mean, who do you actually buy from on PS5? It is a game within Sony who do manage the purchases (or appear to manage) and the streaming. 3 Parties get a cut - if the product does not work, who is responsible? I see what Mathijs is saying - but since we can’t tell who is the seller it is still a mystery I am afraid.
This needs to be clarified by MS and the Community managers need to raise this issue as a matter of urgency please.
Just to say - I am not the person who needs the refund, I am clarifying it for others. I am happy with my purchases.
Sorry, but I can’t support this. That’s like going to see a movie and then demanding your money back because you didn’t like the way it ended.
There were 2 years worth of reviews available by the time it came out on PS. Nobody should have been surprised by it at that point. Even the lack of a Marketplace was experienced by those of us on PC and Xbox as well.
You and I have the benefit of hindsight with PC/Xbox - they do not. I have PS5 as a backup machine if PC goes offline and then I can still fly so I do not populate it with tons of purchases.
Still I feel for them because so much is untested or unclarified. MS/Sony need to find a solution for purchases that do not work - it is patently unfair!
You buy the coins from the Marketplace, so they are responsible for issuing the refund. They surely have the transaction logs and should be able to verify it without any problem. That’s how I see it.
No, zendesk is saying no and sony says they do not refund coins spent on PS5! - And they have no records - this is what I am trying to illustrate - nobody is holding responsibility. Nobody is issuing receipts so you have no proof of purchase - other than you can actually provide a picture of it in your game which allegedly does not count!
Also Ten, how long can you use a product for on any machine before you may NOT claim a refund? This is not clear - why are so many refused and what makes you exactly eligible!
I read on a forum online (can’t recall which now it’s a while back) 2hrs of use all you were allowed prior to requesting a refund as this is long enough to know if a product does not work.
All of this needs clarifying, for all machines - who can and who can’t claim and exacly why you can’t despite having proof. There are some criteria on the zendesk advice pages but they are not totally clear or informative and certainly PS5 is not discussed at all!
Pilotfirst you are spot on bro, it really needs to be clear for consumers to make the appropriate decision on buying anything in the sim. Someone said “only the party you paid can issue a refund”. Pilot spoke with someone at Sony and said they wouldn’t be able to issue a refund. So to my understanding is the return window is within 2 hours (from a reddit post), how about a problem shows up after the fact? It seems like we are just going to have to be very careful what we spend our money on in this game. I recommend watching youtube videos before you buy any product on the marketplace, and if there isn’t any then it is up to you to take that risk.
