I read a lot of complains in the past about Marketplace purchase errors but it never happened to me. Today I’ve experienced my first purchase error while trying to buy an airport through Marketplac+Steam. I purchase the credits through Steam and I hit Buy. My money was taken from my Steam account but I only got a Purchase Error. Who should I contact to either return my money or to get my purchase finished?
If you contact them they are VERY helpful. Tell them what you tried to purchase and they will sort it out for you. I had 3 problem purchases and all were resolved to my liking…
Nope. Been there. As far as Steam are concerned, they’ve provided what you bought - Flight Sim Credits - and those were immediately consumed by Microsoft on purchase.
You have to put in a Zendesk ticket. Microsoft are the ones that can “release” the credits on your account and give you the item you purchased. No one else. And it HAS to be via Zendesk, as it seems your purchases are invisible to other branches at Microsoft.
Hopefully they’re faster at getting that kind of stuff sorted than the last time I had that happen. It was a lot of contacting multiple places, with everyone telling me to contact someone else to get it sorted. Turns out Zendesk is the only way to get assistance with this issue.
On a side note - if you’re on Steam and buying via the marketplace, make sure you have the money in your Steam wallet BEFORE making the purchase. There’s something about that extra process of adding money to your Steam wallet that causes purchases from the Marketplace to fail.
Not sure who had posted that tip a long time ago, but since I started keeping enough money in my wallet before the purchase, I haven’t had a failure. Failure rate has been rather high when i had to add money to my wallet.
Then I suggest you take a look at the post from MichaMMa an follow the link he postet “How to contact Support” and take a look at how to get refunds from Steam.
I’ve already been through that fight with Steam a couple of times due to this issue. And in the end, it turns out the Zendesk ticket was the way to go to get it sorted. The issue isn’t with Steam. It’s with the Marketplace’s interface to Steam. Likely a timeout when you have to go and add money to your wallet. Since MS will have already consumed the Flight Sim Credits, Steam consider it a successful transaction.
The MSFS team are the only ones that can see what’s on your account, what was purchased, what failed, etc and can grant you the product you purchased. And Zendesk is the only way to get in touch with them.
The down side of Zendesk is that turnaround time can be lengthy.
First I tried the Steam way… I didn’t need to contact the support team. Before reaching that point I was redirected to a FAQ which told me I should contact Microsoft.
So I went to Zendesk. As it was my first time there I found it quite tricky to fill all the boxes (didn’t know very well where to get some of the data they requested). When I finally managed to send my ticket they told me that they would answer me within a 48h period.
Finally I tried @Slowhand71 solution, but it didn’t work for me. I got a message telling me that another transaction was in course (the lost one I figure).
So it seems that it’s all at Microsoft’s hands, but al least that last message is a kind of proof that my purchase is not definitively lost but just “in course”.
Not sure if anything changed but in the past I had to ensure Steam Overlay was enabled and in the properties for MSFS in the library it was set to use the overlay for my purchases to work from the Markeplace through Steam.
Never had a problem with the Marketplace purchases before, so my problem probably won’t be related to my setup. In fact I suspect that it has been a sudden problem with my wifi exactly when clicking “Buy” because just a seconds later I got a notification from Windows telling me that the network had reconnected.
No. You must cancel the second transaction. All I can tell you that I once got double billed because I didn’t cancel and never got a refund from steam. After that this issue occurred at least 5 times with different items I bought, and - following the hint of another user in this forum - I did as I described, so after cancelling in the mid of the second transaction the first transaction finished successfully.
Finally once I reported my problem via Zendesk, they manually released the purchase and I got my addon BUT, now I’m still getting the “Another transaction is still pending”. I logged out and restarted the sim, as suggested here but I didn’t work. So, back again to Zendesk.
As someone advised me before, what I should do is no longer use Marketplace…
I bought some days ago also new plane and run into same purchase failed error.
But I think the trick is just to wait. May be they changed somewhat and the former “PENDING” issue is now “ERROR”. I waited some minutes and then I simple done the test and clicked again to buy , but it comes directly the message that a Transaction is pending. So I go back and some second later the download started.
But yes… it seems currently somewhat did not work well here.
