Purchased Planes not showing up

Purchased two sets of planes as a set, They are not showing up in the select aircraft, but do show up as owned.

UNINSTALED MS FS and reinstalled then updated with the two planes.

I don’t understand… all of the work around are NOT working.

in content manager click on the picture of the plane and a tick will appear. Then press get and download or install

When purchased, there are two buttons IIRC. “Buy”, and “Buy & Download”. It sounds like the OP bought the planes but never actually installed them.

I went to the online purchased content section and it says I own them, and it says they are installed…I did not have an IRC button, and I do not know what that stands for.

Going to Content Manager
Filtering what is installed it states that they are installed and up-to-date
…However, they are only 1.94 GB files compared to other planes installed which are 632.46 MB files…

The Second set of planes purchase I had not installed in case I did something incorrectly, I am now installing it via the Content Manager, and it’s downloading…and “a little while later” says installed and up to date …

Yet the planes are not selectable I am only showing the planes that originally came with the game.

Also as a SIDE NOTE HERE - I am in my 80’s, installing these games for my Autistic son, and my computer skills are limited so I apologize in advance

Hi @thhynes3912,
The screenshots you show are for liveries. Do you also own the base 737-700 & 737-800 aircraft?

I purchased the lowest-cost planes, this was a pack of 3 or 4 are these not plane files?

You have purchased additional liveries for the 737-700 aircraft, you need to own/install the aircraft. Liveries are like the paint schemes for different airlines, but they require the aircraft first.

Sorry, I don’t understand, You are saying that what I purchased are not planes

They are paint jobs. Ask MS for a refund explaining the situation

Thank you for explaining, this is not easy for me.

The world moves too fast I agree

to fast for this old man. I was confounded that it did not just say paint job that would have been more understandable than using the word liveries…looking at planes now, there a bit pricey my son is going to have to wait.

Thank you…

Now hopefully he won’t be too upset when he comes home for the weekend…ugh.

Yup - I’ve highlighted the aircraft you would need for these liveries:

Liveries is the standard term for “paint job” when it comes to most vehicles - particularly when there’s a specific owner. For example it wouldn’t really be used if you just paint your car red. But for any car, van, truck, train, plane etc that carries it’s owners mark, it’s called a livery.

It goes back several hundred years. The more you learn, right? Hopefully getting a refund won’t be a problem.

Rarely heard in the UK, even at car salerooms you’re more likley to be asked what kind of paint job

That’s because that’s personal use. As I explained in the rest of the post you cut out - it’s when a personal mark such as a business name or design is applied. I even used a personal car as the example for when it’s not used

Cant disagree, if buying a fleet of cars it’s sometthing you should know otherwise you’re in the wrong job. However personal use was clearly the OP’s intention here, maybe not his but his son’s.

Indeed, but he was buying airliner liveries, not personal private jet “paint jobs.” That’s just what they are. But also I haven’t known that my whole life and wouldn’t expect others too. That’s why I explained politely instead of sarcastically… and I did explain because no one else had. Now he’ll know next time.

Afternoon,

I would like to thank you all for your assistance.

As a Reminder being my age, not acquainted with online gaming other than installing them for my Autistic Son, and for me having minimal computer skills, having to work around this technology is a struggle, as well as dealing with a son who has minimal verbal skills and just wants what he wants.

Anyway I digress, Thank you all for explaining the difference between what I thought was the purchase of the plane as an addition to the game vs a paint job.

As an update, my son threw a fit and was unconsolable and I did break down and purchased the plane … it was a good weekend, and he is off to his home for the week.

again thank you and as I stated if I ever return with another question please remember that the world moved a little too fast for this old man.

Hi @thhynes3912 ,
I’m glad that everything worked out for the best.
FYI, in addition to paid content in the in-game Marketplace, there is also free content that can be downloaded and installed in MSFS 2020. One of the more popular sites is https://flightsim.to/

For those on a budget, free downloads can help expand your flightsim experience without shrinking your wallet!

As with all free software, sometimes what is offered is great, and other times, not so much. :slightly_frowning_face:

Since you are new to all of this, I’d suggest that if you find something that you would like to install, post a message here with a description & link to what you want to install, & the folks here can provide guidance on whether the product is OK & on the steps needed to install it.

I hope that you & your son continue to have many happy hours together flying in MSFS!
