Quest 2 link fades out midflight

This is only since the sim 10 update. I am running VR through the Link cable, and finally have smooth VR on mostly ultra settings. Randomly in flight, usually when I am flying low to the ground in cities, the quest link fades out to BW ‘halftone’ image of the flight, and then fades back in after a few seconds. This is similar to how it shows your surroundings if you lean too much out of the Guardian space, but I am sitting and not moving. It comes right back good as before, but extremely distracting. Any idea on why this is happening? I am running a i9-10850k and a 3080 with link cable (aftermaket)

Interestingly, the same thing happened to me once last night - first time it’s ever done it. I think it might be due to the recent Update that Meta pushed to their devices.

I normally fly using a stationary guardian and the cable. Last night I was using my room guardian because I had been playing some other games. In the past I’ve noticed after repeated sessions my room guardian would slowly drift after playing multiple sessions of MSFS whilst being seated. Mid-flight I notice the same thing happened then, but I actually had put my head outside the guardian due to the drift (note: I never notice any drift whilst playing normal Quest 2 games whilst standing).

I’m going to switch back to stationary guardian and see if the fading in/out issue happens again mid-flight.

Sorry I can’t be of more help, yet.

Cheers

You could also temporarily switch the guardian off completely when playing seated, which I tend to do for all my flying and driving. I think it’s under Settings>Developers in the Oculus Link dashboard in the headset.

Interesting, do you know if you need to have developer mode enabled on the headset to disable the guardian completely? Mine is still in stock default mode.

Thanks,

I’m not 100% sure but probably yes. I’ve forgotten how as I did it a long time ago in order to access SideQuest. I’d say just google it.
