Quest 3 and Virtual Desktop encoding rises each time I exit and reenter VR

I have a weird problem flying in VR using Virtual Desktop. When I first start in VR I get great performance with no issues. I have Encoding of 3 - 4 MS, Networking 3-4ms and decoding of 3-4 ms. This gives me a latency of around 70ms and a frame rate of around 70 - 80. However, as soon as I switch out of VR to the Virtual Desktop and back in again The encoding goes up to around 27ms, resulting in an increased lag of around 150ms and a resulting frame drop to around 40FPS. each time I go out of VR and back in again the encoding increases a little more and the frame rate reduces.

I’ve tried everything I can to resolve the issue (disabling the community folder, using DX11 rather than DX12, Different encoders, ASW on and off, changing bitrates, Changing graphics driver to the one recommended by Virtual Reality (clean install) and performing an in-place repair of Windows 10) I have the same issue every time.

My PC specs are as follows: -

CPU Intel Core i5 9600KF
GPU Nvidia RTX 4060Ti
32GB RAM

I’d be really grateful to know if anyone has had the same experience and if they’ve found a fix.

Have you raised this on their Discord?

Yes, I asked the question. They just suggested i use the reccommended driver, which I did, but nothing changed.

I am surprised 70ms is acceptable for you. I had Q3 and sent it back because it was the lowest latency I could get from my router. I could feel the lag when moving my head and it was awful experience.

I have at 70-90 on my Pico4 and it works ok.

Just an update, I found out the problem! I was using the MSFS toggle VR key to enter and exit VR to see other screens. I suddenly thought maybe I should be using the Virtual Desktop enter/ exit VR mode instead and sure enough problem solved!
