Have taken the plunge and purchased a Quest 3 VR headset. I bought it, as I’m a PPL holder but can not fly IRL due to health reasons. The initial experience was mind blowing, however, the graphics quality is nothing like 2D mode, not sharp at all, image leaves a lot to be desired.
I’m over 70 and not highly technical. I have searched the internet for solutions but before attempting to try them, I wanted to make sure that the image on a “raw” set up is less than perfect, is this normal or do I have a faulty headset?
I’m running a Nvidia RTX4080super, 64GB ram, AMD Ryzen 9800X3D processor.
Any pointers would be greatfully received.
It’ll never be quite as sharp as 2D, but that’s the tradeoff we give for what VR offers. For me it’s not too bad though. Certainly usable! The default settings are all really low quality. Play with them a bit. Try using TAA anti alliasing instead of DLSS if your GPU can handle it. I have the same system as you except the GPU. I’ve got an RTX 3080 so you should get better performance and be able to push settings higher.
I use wireless Virtual Desktop and have a good wifi 6 router.
Thanks mate, I was probably lead astray by what some you tubers have been showing in their vids, the graphics look excelllent
Well it does get better if you have a powerful enough system I suppose. It’s essentially rendering two large screens (as far as pixels are concerned). It’s hard to compare as I can’t see what you see, but with my system it’s good enough for me. For small text I have to learn forward a bit sometimes.
Do you usually wear glasses for distance viewing?
The thing that made the biggest difference for me was purchasing a set of lenses for it same as my prescription.
Also DLSS4 made another huge difference when that came out.
The image is crystal clear, the sims graphics are pixelated. Other games, outside the sim are fine, that’s why I’m trying to work out why the sims graphics are poor. As I said, I’ve seen many YouTube examples of the sim displaying fantastically sharp graphics in VR. From what I can gather, I’ll need virtual desktop to get better and sharper graphics.
I was wrongly under the impression that I would get the desired results simply using the headset, and not having to purchase other add ons. You live and learn.
