In filters, when I want to view the winds, they are divided into “Ground, Low, High” Could someone tell me what altitude ranges these represent? For example, “Low is from 3,000 feet to 6,000 feet.”
Also, can anyone fly in MSFS while correcting for wind using an E6B flight computer?
Yes you can use an E6B, but I personally just bookmark a few wind correction online calculators and use those instead.
As found during experimentation and observations in a quest to make sense of career mode weather in MSFS2024, I compared this to aviationweather.gov, and it seems to be that “low” is around 6,000’ and high is around 30,000’. It fits nearly exactly, including historic weather in the past 24h.
It would be nice… is imperative that someone from Asobo clarifies this. A note in the UI like “low (6,000’ MSL)” would be extremely helpful. It’s also too large a gulf between altitudes - so much can happen. There should at least be one or more of a 12,000, 18,000, and 24,000’ option as well. At least 18,000 as a “mid” if nothing else.
Most definitely! I do all the time and what’s happening in the sim is accurate enough throughout most wind levels (even if they’re not displayed on the map) to use one. This includes winds during the past 24h, as introduced in MSFS2024. Compare them to what you’d find at aviationweather.gov in the US and it’s completely workable.
But of course, as @CasualClick says, you can use a lot of other resources to calculate this.
