Question for fighter jet pilots

In your fighter jets, do you fly in cockpit mode on external mode? I like the cockpit mode but the external gives me a much wider view.

Dude, this is your own preference, what you like most? If you are one of us that wants t fly this as Flight Sim, then cockpit is what we usualy do, if you want this as a game like any chasing view games à la GTA, then external view might be your thing, again, it is what you like  My own preference, always cockpit view, even in rally/race sims, always in cockpit, when i want to see outside of airplanes or cars, i go to airshows, race, if i wanna feel what it looks like to fly those birds, then in cockpit. Do what you enjoy the most of the game/sim  But yeah i presume without any head tracking hardware, in cockpit can be annoying.

Cockpit of course, with head tracking.

If you want to simulate flight, then it’s cockpit. If you want to play a video game, then 3rd person chase view. It’s up to you. Use it how you want to.

Personally, I’m in the cockpit 99.9% of the time with head tracking (TrackIR). I only occasionally pop out of the cockpit in chase or drone when I want to take a screen shot.

VR in cockpit; being able to look around mostly naturally avoids the majority of the field of view issues. I may switch to external if not much is happening and I want to look at something below/below and behind the aircraft or visually verify the nav lights are actually on during the day, etc., but not when I have to do anything involving pointing the aircraft with any precision.

In the cockpit mainly but I do go to the exterior view for a more cinematic experience. I do like looking at the artistry in a good external model during a flight, both in the fighter jets or indeed in any aircraft.

I like taking nice screen shots so the exterior view is obviously the way to go for that.

In the F/A-18 I use the external camera view as I’m typically sightseeing using HDR10 in specific areas and the cockpit view is very restrictive. I also use the Darkstar in external camera view to check out hurricanes at very high altitudes such as Ian. It’s all a matter of preference.

Not a big fighter jet pilot but on the topic of FP vs TP view, i typically stick to cockpit view. I only go into 3rd person for taxiing and get screenshots
