I am just speechless right now. Here are my quick impressions.
Game looks so much better now. No more jagged edges. Everything looks very sharp and clear. Its like I am on a 4k monitor.
Major improvement in clouds for me. No more ash colored clouds. They look much better overall. I think they improved the shaders.
Water looks much better now.
LOD looks fine to me. Can anyone confirm this ? I am not seeing any issues here.
Night lighting albiet looks much better at high altitudes is a bit over done now. Also somehow it lost its variation in colors ? its the same yellow lights over the entire city ? where did the traffic lights and other variation of colors went ? Looks very Xplanish to me.
Performance is more or less the same.
No CTDs at all. Running like butter.
Overall its a huge step in the right direction and a major step up in visuals for me.
Nice update, but please improve incorrect “vicinity” landings at each airport by increasing all airport zone diameters 20% to remove vicinity tags that don’t give credit for correct landings! This is a major issue with the logbook not giving credit.
So funny how different are experiences are… and sad.
Water - 100% better. Reflections on water even better!
LOD - terrible. Looks even worse than previously. Downtowns like San Fran, NYC, and Seattle all look like melted steeples and don’t even come into being fully rendered until you’re literally on top of them, especially in an airliner.
No CTDs
Still had a random ILS stopped working issue on approach to San Francisco
My specs: i9-9900k, 32gb RAM, 300 mb/s fiber internet, RTX 2080 Ti
thunderstorm, again this insanity, what the big deal to add working metar in the live weather, it’s not start today, not yesterday and even not week ago, second patch, what doesn’t disable this weather glitch, very sad, i mean it’s could be very sad if i be depressed, very nice patch btw
I agree with this. Night lighting is worse than before in cities and resembles the XPlane night lighting now. Before there were more colors.
AA is much better.
The water reflections are great with light wind but worse with more than 10 knots wind. The crests and waves were better before.
I also seem to notice that clouds are more pixelated and with more noise than before.
Why add metric and hybrid choices but leave the QnH at imperial values. I was really looking forward to being able to use locally reported settings in Australia in the aircraft.
On another note, live weather, we have a sunny day with scattered clouds and the sim reports the usual overcast stormy and lightning (without any rain). Will it ever be correct?
So I’m hearing, but I’ve managed to use liveries (Clink’s specifically) without issue. I moved them out of community, started the game, updated, had 1 flight ‘stock’ with community folder empty, exited, put the liveries and mods back in, and at least for the 4 planes I flew, all the liveries were there.
Did you buy a flight simulator, or a simulator with beautiful textures? As always this new update has left worse (Seeing it as a flight simulator) As I said, at least 1 year for the great team behind MFS2020 to give you the right way as a simulator, correcting all the faults that are present in each update. Greetings
I like the new light lighting. Maybe a bit overdone at distance (I can unrealistically see highway lights too far away) but I can still tell LEDs from tungsten, etc. from up high. More warm white than before but it’s fine.
While flying the Grand Caravan, at some point an artifact appeared on top of it (external view). It was a massive black box which went away by itself after a few min. I also noticed that the throttle lever was not animating (throttle still changed). That also fixed itself.
Extremely heavy stutters (2-3 seconds, almost feel like a complete sim crash). Seen those only on final approach.
For the last two patches my GPU has been working harder and harder while CPU usage has gone down a bit. I am becoming GPU limited now while in the first versions the CPU was clearly the bottleneck (GPU limited is a good thing IMHO).
Besides the stutters, performance seems equal with settings untouched.
X-plane’s night lighting is one of its best features (although draw distance is crippled which they could never resolve due to the engine limitation) Just goes to show , everyone has different perception of what is ‘real’
