QuickViews seem to be more of a design choice for some devs (like Carenado who have the most strange Quick View) or basically no Quick Views for others. The only ones which are rather consistent are the ones from Asobo directly.
I’ve been changing the QuickViews of all aircraft I could get my hands on for the better part of 2 years. You can download them via my profile on flightsim.to. Just search for “Cameras”

Design choice?
This should be default settings, not design choice.
Look at this. I am holding right on my hatswitch to look right. See the results I get. Unaccptable.
This is the DHC-2 Beaver…
I get what you mean, view systems seem to be so straight forward that there appears to be no sensible reason why they shouldn‘t be preassigned. It‘s a common request. Almost equally common is the request for total customization, no presets for as little confusion, compatibility problems and trouble shooting as possible. Whatever you do as a developer there will be many you won‘t please with it. So it‘s the obviously easier way to do nothing and leave it to the users‘ liking. Also if you do the views one way and any 3rd party dev wants to do it differently and the user has to dig his way through a multitude of controllers to find the problems he created with his cutomization of a preset he‘ll get crazy. It‘s no easy (or simple) topic but below the line it‘s smarter to oeave it empty and let the users choose themselves.
How hard is it to program the views as to what they are supposed to do?
Come on now..
It’s clearly written here what they are to do.
At least make an effort.
aah you mean that „right“ is „right“ and not „back“… okay, sorry, I misunderstood it. I thought you wanted the controller buttons to be preassigned to the corresponding setting… my fault. Yeah, I agree now.
Yes, that’s what the Quickviews are supposed to do.
When I hit right on the hatswitch, I want to look right, not back. lol
Asobo shouldn’t accept any 3rd party aircraft that can’t get this simple thing fixed.
Actually, it should be a default setting. Why are we messing around in the control settings
to set up these things? Should dummy proof.
Yes I agree. It SHOULD and most 3rd party aircraft have absolutely horrible Quick Views or none at all and we would be better off, if the devs cared about that. This is especially true since the instrument views are quite good with many planes.
However, I have also come to see it this way: if all the QuickViews were identical on all planes, that would make them pretty inconvenient on many planes because one maybe has a long nose like the Corsair, or the windshield frame is in the way of the front/left 45° view, or you need to angle the view down more for a C172 with high wings than a PA28 with low wings etc, etc.
If this stuff were hardcoded, some Quick Views would be horrible. At least this way we can do them the way we want. I always try to envision with my mods how a pilot would move to get the best view out of the aircraft and then replicate that in the camera.cfg file
Point of fact is:
it’s too late now. The fix is in. The devs do as they like and MS/Asobo will not do anything about that. Also looks like not enough people care about the problem. Otherwise this would have come up more often in the past two years. I’ve actually always been astonished that this seems mostly to have been accepted by the Community.
And considering what kind of utter rubbish is sometimes pedalled on the Marketplace, the Quick Views are the least of my worries. I will continue to make those mods for every plane I can get access to
The views shouldn’t be identicle. They should be custom to each plane. Either that or simply allow users to assign our own Quickviews.
