Radar Tilt Controls / Page for Working Title Avionics

Great to have realistic titling radar! Can we please have this in the WT avionics ASAP?

The radar doesn’t actually have anything to do with the avionics made by the WT team.

Asobo supply a wxr api in the sdk along with a tilt function. Individual devs create the wxr from this.

Please see the conversation in the WT Discord.

the conversation said to post it here. What am I missing?

Nothing. I’m responding to @DDArthur5357 for informational - that WT recommended you post it here, and I checked it with Matt before approving your request.

So what has been introduced into SU5 with regards to radar tilt?

Yes the developers can set radar tilt.

However if you follow the conversation that @AKAnarchyKid had at WT’s Discord, Matt confirms that underlying base Avionics - i.e., the Garmins, the ProLine 21, Epic 2, the Honeywell and Smith (B7x) - all of them need the tilt ability integrated so the SDK reference can be used. As he said, 3rd Party Developers don’t have access to the WX radar internals on the JS instruments (FMS) themselves. So it’s a dependency WT need to enable.

Ahhh…I see

Also, radar display on the map in the G3000

Just to be totally clear here,

Developers could implement their own WXR pages/displays today with the new API, they’re not prevented from using this in any way. However, we also want to give them a more integrated development experience so every developer doesn’t necessarily have to reimplement the same page as each other. So the idea would be to expand the base page/display in the instruments such that then developers would only have to code the “internal” parts of the WXR, so the logic for the individual radar models, and then pipe that logic to the existing displays.

This is not presently possible with the current sim API.

Thanks Matt. What would those pages theoretically show/depict, understanding the work is not yet allocated in backlog?

Very much depends on the avionics, but for an example, the G3000/G5000 already has a WXR display pane, and on that pane and accompanying GTC page are the tilt controls.

A developer could make their own pane and page, replacing ours, but of course it’s better if they don’t have to do that and can just plug-in their WXR logic.

Thanks. i’m adjusting the title so folks don’t get confused after reading SU5 notes. @AKAnarchyKid
