Hi. I’ve already fixed models to have some obstacle lighting (values for lights changed significantly in MSFS2024) and they should be available soon. I still hope that we’ll get proper obstacle lighting in the SDK so they are properly visible from at least 10k, but for that we have to wait for some new additions to SDK.
What a shame. This has been something users have been asking for since fs2020 and towers were promised for this release and they didn’t even give you the resources to get the job done right. This honestly feels like a beta release right now. I’m glad it’s out, and I am sure it will get sorted eventually, but I really think they should of put people’s expectations inline with that this is an early release with so many things not working right.
They are missing day and night lighting. As someone said, this is sad because this seems like such an easy fix for Microsoft/Asobo to do. I know Puffin will get them fixed as soon as the resources are available.
For normal scenery objects there is no option to have day lighting. You either have 24h light or only at night. Using simobjects gives a lot more flexibility but it may be more taxing on performance. And the last thing I want is to affect performance with my package.
That doesn’t mean I won’t test some solutions that may help, but I don’t want to promise anything.
Only if I’ll be able to make them more visible. I’m need to do some experiments first. Otherwise it’s pointless. But yeah, only tall objects. Smaller towers usually don’t have day lights anyway.
Yea I know smaller towers don’t. What i was referring to was instead of everything 200 feet and above, maybe just doing 500 feet and above or the the ones with guy wires as those are the most dangerous. Maybe I’m asking for just a little bit to much realism haha.
You absolutely don’t I’m currently experimenting with a new approach but I don’t want to promise anything cause it has to pass performance tests.
Better lights will be there as soon as our package is updated. Then i hope we’ll figure out how to make them properly visible from at least 16k (I know IRL it’s more but we don’t want to put too much strain on the sim).
