Bought this a few days ago and am very impressed overall.
However, it looks like the windsocks are facing the wrong direction. I’m at runway 07, using live weather and the metar in LittleNavMap shows a wind direction of 20 degrees and recommends runway 07.
I’ve just gone into weather and changed wind direction and speed and it makes no difference. Is the windsock a static model?
I think it’s a newer version of the freeware one. I went to get that and Lakenheath but they had been taken down from flightsim.to. I searched all over the place trying to find them and eventually came across a forum post somewhere on another site mentioning it was on marketplace. Lakenheath too.
I’m sure I have a free one but searched my download history on .to and it doesn’t show up now. Can’t remember who made it. Maybe Tag21. Not on PC now so can’t check.
I see there is another one by RAFAir (Coningsby).
Does it look like some are being made Payware by their creator and removed from .to in the process?
That’s fine by me really if they are of high quality. The creators should be able to earn from their work so all good. But I think it’s the first time I’ve seen this.
I can’t answer about the windsock though but I have seen similar issues before where they face 180 degrees the wrong way. I thought the models (default ones or those from Windy Things pack) were dynamic though so should respond to current windows conditions. Unless the creator made their own static model I suppose. That would be a weird choice especially for a profession and now PAID airport! lol
Its not so much an issue with the wind sock as an issue with the ground wind. Even in no wind conditions it howls across the runway from right to left. If you go to othet end of run way it does exactly the same right to left to the stage where you have to take off on full rudder and hope not to hit your wing man.
I also live very close by so i know its not a real weather condition.
But on a side note the IM scenery EGXC/EGUL are amazing
Yes, possibly in this case. But regardless, it is pretty stunning, both Coningsby and Lakenheath, and not expensive either, just over £10 each if I remember rightly.
EDIT:
Just checked, it is a newer version of this:
I’m not sure if it’s that. I set the wind to zero and tried it in different directions and it didn’t move. It does look a static model, which is odd if that’s the case because the rest of the airfield is top tier, without a doubt.
I emailed the dev, he’s confirmed it’s static and he’ll include dynamic windsocks in the next update, so all good.
