ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: After latest SU4 beta update i’m getting random CTD’s which i’ve not had since SU2

Weather settings: Live Weather

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

I’ve had 4 random CTD’s since the latest update. 1 on departure, 2 in cruise (without touching anything) and one on approach. I’ve attempted around 8 flights since the updated and 4 has CTD’ed. I’ve not had one CTD since SU2. I fly all kind of third party airliners with third party sceneries and never had an issue with CTD’s, so im pretty sure its related to the latest beta update. I’ve not changed any settings, hardware, drivers or anything since the update. The planes im using are still the same together with the sceneries.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. just a normal flight from A-B has a 50% chance of CTD’ing so far for me in the beta.

YOUR SETTINGS

If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue. If not, please move this post to the User Support Hub.

What peripherals are you using: Thrustmaster yoke, Honeycomb Bravo throttle, winwing MCP and FMC

[PC Only] Are you using Developer Mode or have you made any changes to it? No

[PC Only] What GPU (Graphics Card) do you use? RTX 5090

Experiencing the same. EICK seems to be a particularly difficult airport. I have attempted flying there 3 times now. First attempt it crashed after takeoff from EHAM. The second attempt it crashed on approach. The final crash was after touchdown.

I haven’t had any crashing before, so this is specific to the latest beta update.

I’m currently flying EHAM to EICK - I’ll let you know whether I had a CTD or not.

Just to give some more details: I am flying the MD82 using BATC for traffic injection/ATC alongside Active Sky in historical weather mode.

Test flight went fine - I didn’t experience any CTD.

There are just so many variables, it’s hard to pinpoint a specific component.

If I had experienced a CTD, I would have tested without any modifications / addons and flown with the default aircraft. Also without traffic.

That seems prudent. I’ll report back after.

Also experienced CTD with latest build. Occurred after departure during climb phase:

I manually deleted my the DX, GL and D3DS cache folders as well as the content.xml, rolling cache and scenery index folder.

I didn’t crash flying to EICK this time although the flight there was a bit of a stutter fest. Possibly because of the cache rebuilding?

It is happening even with clean new install, no addons.

Inıtially tested to install on D drive, it was extremely problematic. I couldn’t even copy paste my backed up airplane custom camera files in to sim folders. Even when the target folder was empty, when i tried to copy paste a file, it was saying “You wanna overwrite the current one?” (it was seriously empty folder, not a single file was there). I choosed overwrite the file option, asked me admin permissions, i sad yes. and it was giving me “You can’t do that action!” prompt. I was seeing there is a 0kb newly created file with same name on target folder. When i try to open it with Notepad++ it was giving error, file can’t be accessed. I checked my user admin permissions, all seems ok. I tried copying files to Community folders also, it was the same. winrar trick also didn’t work. I got CTDs and decided to install msfs2024 to C drive. No more copy paste issues at C drive. Sadly I got 2 ctds on C drive also, one was when quiting sim, other one was a “connection lost” crash. I don’t know what changed at last beta builds, or it is because of win11 25H2, it is really strange. It feels like there is crazy DRM going on.

i dont have time to go test a full flight in default planes with no items in community folder especially when it only happends every second flight. I simply just concluded that after the latest su4 beta update i now get CTD’s which i have not got since the release of SU2 without changing any settings, drivers og hardware. Other people report CTD on different discord servers and streams with the new su4 beta update as well, so i simply just wanted to post my crashlog to the developers

Installing the launcher on a drive other than C, or moving it using the “Move” option, can cause permission issues with files and folders and that’s exactly the problem you’re experiencing.

Anyway, I did another flight from EPWA to HECA yesterday evening (around 3 hours) with zero CTD.

In a few minutes, I’m launching MSFS SU4 beta to relax with a short flight - EPWA to LOWI with the iFly 737 MAX.

I deleted my post because I decided to leave the beta programme, no longer have the nerves to deal with CTDs - Same old story.

Are you using any 3rd party addons which use simconnect?

Probably, lol. GSX, fenix? Not sure what uses simconnect and what doesn’t tbh

I’m once again getting them too, doesn’t seem to matter if community folder is empty or not. Latest SU4 build.

Just got a similar crash as the above post, one hour into a flight

Had no crashes before 1.6.15.0

Update 1.6.18 - getting CTD on 2 consecutive startups of the sim in Fenix A320. Started flight at LGAV 1 CTD. Than 1 CTD on final at EDDL.
