Random mid flight CTDs - Exception code: 0xc0000005

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: When mid flight sim freezes and then eventually crashes to desktop, can be after 5 minutes of flying, can be after 30. No real pattern to the crashes. Happens in multiple aircraft and in different missions. Event view shows an Exception code: 0xc0000005 when the application crashes. Only started after the most recent update of the sim.

I’ve been getting these ever since the 1.1.10 patch, and I just feel like everything went full circle, back to what it was like for months in 2020.
Before 1.1.10 I was able to complete successful flights with both the default aircraft, as well as with the Fenix and A2A Comanche.

I’ll just copy what I posted in another thread about these:

This is exactly the same thing I had to go through with MSFS2020. It would randomly crash for months with the dreaded 0xc0000005 code (in the menus, mid-flight, during loading, basically everywhere), despite the whole PC being stable and working like a charm with DCS or X-Plane, as well as running fine with multiple stress tests.

In the end it turned out that the factory OC on my MSI RTX2080 was somehow offending the sim, and dialing the clocks to the standard Nvidia values would help with the crashes. Since then I have upgraded to a 4080, whose factory OC apparently was okay enough for 2020, as the crashes didn’t return even with the OC in place. That is until now, as with 2024 it’s back to square one. I still have to test whether underclocking the GPU helps this time too.

Interesting, i have the same problem and also a slightly OCd 4090, but running stable in every benchmark. I also have those crashes and will test, if removing any OC will help with it…

I installed the game a few days ago and played around a bit until today, when the game started got CTD. Until yesterday everything was fine**, today there were 2 random CTD in mid flight, one in the morning and one at night.

The crash logs show "Msg=“handleSEH"" and "Microsoft.Limitless_1.2.11.0_x64_”

**Not so fine because the game always froze after I finished a flight (I have to force the app to close through the task manager), but at least I was able to finish the flights.
