Nice afternoon for a flight round Las Vegas in an old Chipmunk. Then again sometimes its better just to stay firmly on the ground and take photos.

I used the DNBOF weather presets pack available over on flightsim.to to create these shots. If you follow the instructions you can place the supercell thunderstorm anywhere in the world you like.

Yeah, isn’t it sad to know that the engine is capable of visually rendering something like that but simply doesn’t do it in Live Weather? Well, thunderstorms still don’t have any lightning so there’s that.

Imagine one of the hottest summers in recorded history with tons of energy in the air and not having seen a single lightning bolt in the sim for months. Not for lack of trying to find some, mind you. Well … not a single one isn’t true. I saw some lightning in clear skies near the Bahamas one day. Inside the cockpit. “Yay!”, I guess.
