"Ready to fly" button. What did the developer mean?

I am racking my brains about this unnecessary button. I’m trying to put myself in the shoes of a developer and understand why this button was created. I chose the plane, route, airport, weather and I’m ready to fly, but this stupid button gets in my way. And another video! Suggest options. What thought was in the mind of the creator?

It would be cool if you had access to / could check your VFR & Navlog BEFORE pressing this last commit button. During Bush trips I’ve often start taxiing before being ready, while trying to figure out where I was supposed to go.

you can deactivate the intro before every flight in the settings.

I think a lot of the oddities of the UI are somewhat related to consoles. I think of the “Press any key” screen as an attract sequence for an old arcade game, intended to entice you in with that video playing. It serves no actual purpose. I could forgive it if it were a disguised loading screen, but no matter how long you leave it there, when you press the any key, you still have to sit through that loading sequence afterwards. smh

Could that have not been done while sitting there doing nothing? I’ve said it before, if it were a PC only title, it would never have looked like this. It’s a mild form of consolitis, and at this time incurable.

Seriously!? Can you point out where? I will be happy to disable this button and the black tips that pop up above the toggle switches!

disguised loading screen - GOOD Idea !!

And it might be if it actually disguised anything. It merely lays bare its heritage. It should be entirely removable like those videos if you use the SDK loader. I could never get that command line switch to do it.

Which on a related note is in itself amusing. You can use the SDK command to skip it, the reason listed is so that devs can quickly get in to start work…then it dumps you at the press any key screen. LOL

I really think this “button” is put there because of how long the “scenario” takes to load. I can see getting into a routine of setting up a flight and walking away to grab a drink before returning (and that’s with a fast m.2 ssd). I actually like this as it gives me a chance to check my throttle and other switches before starting the flight I’ve setup.

Dave,
I think you are right. Since startup takes so long, one might just walk away to order breakfast or lunch before returning to the sim. Since some pilots seem to like starting ON THE RUNWAY, that last little button prevents the aircraft spawning on the runway while he/she is finishing their lunch in the kitchen.

Some are most definitely loading screens, like hyperspace travel in Elite: Dangerous.

It doesn’t disable the button. It just allows you to skip the cinematic and just go directly to the button screen.

Can’t tell you how many times I thought the sim froze when I just forgot to press the darn Ready to Fly button, so I’m with you 100%!!

(why did they censor me? All I said was d a r n…)

Some people have to leave their pc for up to 15 minutes loading this game. If they go afk they don’t want to come back to find they’ve crashed or something else so I guess it’s nice to have a screen before you play

I love this screen and cinematic. It makes the simulator feel less steril and provides some excitement before getting into (virtual) cockpit. Isnt it a good thing, if we use the sim for a personal entertainment purpose?

Real aircraft have a “Ready to Fly” button. It’s just next to the “Ready to Land” button.
.
Have none of you ever sat in a flipping cockpit?

Loading can take a long time. When you want to spawn on final or in the air and you get coffee during loading or toilet break your plane is already crashed when you get back.

Useful feature if you ask me. You can turn it off if you want, right?
