Hi guys I am not using any traffic tools except a aerosoft simple traffic as a livery package. I choose Real time online from the menu, but I see very few planes around if not zero.
Am I doing something wrong? I don’t want to install GB’s of traffic injectors.
What do you see on FlightAware or FlightRadar in the same area at the same time? Note that live traffic for MSFS seems to be mostly pulling IFR flights with filed flight plans, and runs them on the AI system – it doesn’t track live ADS-B data. It has relatively few small planes running VFR because of this.
I haven’t heard about FlightAware but I took screenshots of Istanbul Airport from this FlightAware and flight radar at the same time. difference is huge, only 2 planes on FA, and bunch of planes on FR.
What does this mean?
From those screen caps, likely means that one excludes parked aircraft that the other one includes.
Note you will never see exact mirroring of real parked planes in MSFS; static parked planes are placed randomly, and parked AI planes will stop at whatever random terminal.
İstanbul airport is huge and packed airport. Seeing only two planes is weird no matter how. So the default live traffic can never be appropriate
Personal Comments and Observations
FlightAware is the official Data Provider of Live Traffic to the sim. It’s known to have better coverage in CONUS and EU, not so much elsewhere.
I must say the difference between the sim and flightrader is still boggling me. On FR now every plane lands on rw22 in Geneva, while in the sim the land on the other runway.
Had to dodge a lot of planes during final
