RECALL and EICAS panel in VR in the PMDG 737

Wanted to ask if anyone in here flying the PMDG 737 in VR has an issue where it’s not possible to press the RECALL button?

Over here it’s not working and some other guys over in the PMDG forums have reported the same issue. When I submitted a support ticket, PMDG claim their guys don’t have this issue in VR. Which puzzles me. First I thought it might be a WMR issue since I was told they are using Oculus headsets. Where I was using the HP Reverb G2. However, now I’m using the Varjo Aero which isn’t based on WMR and I still have the same issue. No matter what I try, I can’t press the RECALL button when in VR mode.

I’ve also noticed another issue where the majority of knobs and buttons and particularly on the left side of the panel can’t be used when moving the mouse over them. When I do, I see how the mouse cursor becomes two cursors in a way which is a bit hard on the eyes. Where nothing happens regardless of which of these two cursors I put over the knob or button I want to turn/press.

First I thought this also was a PMDG 737 issue but tonight I discovered how this happens when I have a separate window open after using the MSFS Toolbar menu to bring the window up in VR. Like the window you have when using Navigraph or GSX Pro. Having one of these open, I have this issue with the EICAS panel. Same issue if I close the window using the keyboard shortcut to close/open the window. Which more seems to be you’re rather “hiding” the window instead of closing it. If I properly close the window by using the X in the upper right corner or by pressing the icon on the MSFS Toolbar, the problem goes away and I’m able to use all the knobs and buttons on the EICAS panel normally.

So this seems to be more of an issue with open VR windows in MSFS. Weird though why this would only affect the knobs and buttons on the EICAS panel where all other knobs, switches and buttons work just fine.

Really odd but super annoying. Especially the RECALL button issue. Since I haven’t been able to find any workaround for that issue in the same way I did with the EICAS panel. Where I simply need to make sure I don’t have any separate VR windows opened. For the RECALL button, the only way I can press that one is by switching back to 2D and then go back to VR. Which obviously isn’t ideal.

Would love to hear if others are having the same issues.

I have no problems at all with the PMDG 737 and HP Reverb G2 in this regard.
Try CTRL+0

That’s great to hear it’s working for you! This means I as well as the others who have this issue just need to figure out what’s causing it on our side.

CTRL+0, what is that shortcut doing?

Will give it a test later today. Would be fantastic if I could find a solution to this issue!

OK, so here’s a very positive update. I have it all figured out now.

For the RECALL button to work in VR, you need to make sure ‘Cockpit Interaction System’ under ‘Accessibility’ in MSFS is set to ‘Legacy’ and not ‘Lock’. This one was tricky since the setting is greyed out and can’t be changed when you’re in VR mode. Which fooled me into thinking it’s not used/applicable in VR mode. Once you switch to 2D mode, it can be changed.

In my case it was set to ‘Lock’ and I have no clue why but might have been “remembered” since your settings are stored “in the cloud” these days. Where I remember how I was messing around with this setting in the past. Trying to make the mouse interaction work correctly in the Aerosoft CRJ long ago.

For the EICAS panel issue, what I already said is true. How it’s caused by having separate VR windows opened. However …if you make sure to move these VR windows out of the way rather than having them in front of you (and thus interfering with other VR-clickable spots such as the knobs and buttons on the EICAS panel) before you hide them using the key binding for that, you’ll be fine and everything on the EICAS panel will work as it should.

This to me suggests an issue which I guess needs to be addressed by Asobo. How VR windows even when hidden will still interfere with other click-spots in VR.

So, there we have it and I’m so happy finally being able to use the RECALL button in VR!
