Recent Windows USB issues and driver updates, Hardware level config change at random

I’ve been simming for a long time and run 6DOF 5090 9950X3D and VR with a complex cockpit setup. I’ve seen a thing or 2.

Recent USB issues with security updates on windows, new driver for CPU and GPUs means we are constantly seeing updates that may affect our setups.

For the last 2 days, I’ve seen some signs that manifested slower performs and different shutdown experiences. Slower game performance and USB ports that disconnected devices that normally were assigned to aircraft profiles. Planes I’ve flown daily, all of a sudden not seeing the devices they were configured with.

It seems with updates to AMD Chipset Drivers, Nvidia GPU driver Updates and a myriad of Windows 11 updates, BIOS level changes have been happening in the background.

All my USB ports were set to be powered OFF when my PC is shutdown. They are now powered.

My DDR5 EXPO 1 profile was disabled in Bios. High Performance bandwidth setting was disabled.

I did not do a BIOS update. PC has been stable for 1 year and as little as 1 month ago, saw 6000MTs in task manager, but today 5600MTs and no EXPO.

My 6DOF motion controller normally powers off when PC is shutdown, and now it stays power. This is a BIOS level change.

For those who want the maximum out of their hardware or are seeing different behavior on a hardware and configuration level, Check your Task manager, Check your BIOS configuration because there’s some monkeying going on that you likely did not give permission to.

FYI and Blue skies to you all.

Sprung.
