No Brief description of the issue:
Electric generating windmills have a red light on top. This light needs to be reduced to 25% of what it now is because those are the brightest lights to be seen. I have only flown at night in Southern Spain, but I imagine that it is true everywhere. Provide Screenshot(s)/video(s) of the issue encountered:

I would want the appropriate number of red lights on taller buildings, which would also have them in real life and would consider it to be a bug if they are randomly placed/over done.
Hi there!
No mods, but if you fly at night near any of the German cities there are TONS of red lights- maybe windmills and antennas? Not sure but they are pretty distracting…
I believe the main reason all those red lights are standing out so much is because they are overpowered by orders of magnitude, visible for many many miles out while IRL would only be visible much much closer.
Plus, they’re huge red orbs, while IRL obstruction lights would be small pinpoint light sources.
Asobo places red light on every antenna/mast spot (but don’t place actual antenna). They don’t take height of the object into account at all, so you have a light where it should be, like where 200m mast is, and where they shouldn’t, where irl there is a small 20m antenna.
Also they place red lights at every wind turbine. Those lights are quite big, so they tend to look overdone in the fields of wind turbines.
Obstacles like WIndparks and high buildings have red lights to warn pilots.
In the real world those lights are usually flashing, but okay not my primary issue here.
I cant enjoy night flying with those red lights being way to intense and visible from way too far away compared to real life.
Sometimes a medium size windpark is glowing brighter than a whole city
Not meaning to be argumentative but are we sure this isn’t quite realistic surely would be intended that they still stand out. Couldn’t find many good images of windfarms at night but here is a couple.
of course you are right, they are there to be visible.
But not from 20+ NM and not brighter than a whole city.
The pictures you linked to have a very long exposure to enhance the lighting.
Here is a shot from the Vienna Area, you can see the lights in the background, but not as prominently:
You can see obstacles in the background, but they are not dominating everything.
And while I couldnt find any picture of windparks from FL360 I can assure you that they, while visible, are not as bright as in the sim.
So yes, you are right, they have to be visible but when further away than 10nm you can hardly see them IRL, especially in urban areas, and I think it should be similar to that in the sim.
@tclayton2k unfortunately I was not lucky with finding it myself…
Erm, yes. But they are all simultaneous, and they are meant to be so bright. And yes, i’m driving very early from Vienna to Bratislava sometimes and can confirm the lights being seen over 20 to 50km.
And I am regularry flying there IRL and can assure you, that while you can see the red flashing dots, they are not brighter than the City lights and when north west of the city you cant see them in the southeast of the city.
Unfortunately i dont have any video as i am usually quite busy flying in that area, but will try to make one next time…
And from bratislava to vienna you never even get to a distance of 50km to the Windfarm
Exactly. And that’s why on the 70km drive you are always very close to them but never 50km away bit in sight
Next time ypu are in vienna, go on Katernberg or Donauturm at night.
Then look north and east.
In tje north you will see a few, hard to see Red dots.
Thosw dots are about 15km away jist northeast of Vienna. In Sim, the red is much, much brighter whel you look from same spot.
And if you lool to the windmills you see along A4 from Katernberg at night, it has to be a very clear one so you can spot at least 1 or 2.
In Sim you see them all, as bright as can be.
I am not saying those lights shouldnt be there. All i say, they are much brighter from far away than in real life.
