Just wondering if anyone knew if the MS Store or Steam versions of MSFS 2020 are region locked?
Would I be able to install again in a different country than originally purchased?
I’m not looking to bypass regional pricing - I just don’t want to have to re-purchase the game if I wind up moving to another country in the future.
I would prefer to purchase on the MS Store to retain the option to play via xBox play anywhere in the future.
The Steam store page itself should show regions which is what would matter. Unsure on how Microsoft handles it if you purchase from them. Gamepass works without regions in mind.

Thanks for the heads up. It appears no region lock for Steam per your advice and other research I did online (there are few exceptions with gift cards, etc).
I’m still not sure about MS Store or any other possible complications regarding the in-game store/region lock.
Microsoft Store when you visit the edition you purchased, will give you the exact time for your region. I have to wait another 2 hours till noon in my region.
Ah, thanks. However, I was more interested in purchasing in one country while keeping the ability to reinstall MSFS2020 in another - 6 months from now in a different country if I relocated.
I think you are referring to the staggered install/release schedule. No worries.

Oh! There shouldn’t be any problem. I believe everything you purchase digitally is Global.
I’m an American with 12 years on Xbox Live and live in the Philippines; all my games, computers, and consoles have worked all over the globe, including Europe and the Middle East. You’ll be fine.

No problem, same with Steam. However, if I buy keys, I definitely make sure they’re Global on that platform.
