Reinstalling copies old install from the cloud

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
I reinstalled 2024 today. I uninstalled it in Steam, then I removed the old directories. Finally, I reinstalled 2024, and it went right back to the way it was. It did not ask me to log in. It just copied the old mistakes back to my PC.

What’s the problem you are trying to fix via a reinstall?

I wanted to see if my Carenado planes would sort correctly. There is also a Bravoairspace airliner in my Library that crashes the sim if I click it. My graphics menus are also broken. And all the other stuff.
Anyway, I had the same experience with Windows. I did the Reset, and I noticed I was getting drivers for things that weren’t installed. I had to use offline media before it would install fresh. The sim is storing our installs in the Cloud, and reinstalling doesn’t reinstall, it copies the old install from the cloud.

Your data is saved on Steam cloud. So what you want to do first, while game is installed, is to

  • Go to Steam and disable this type of save
  • Start a game once, do whatever, exit the game. So you confirm no save on Steam cloud
  • Uninstall the game within steam (just as you did)
  • Go to (type in win explorer bar) %appdata% and delete folder named “Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024”
  • Go to …SteamLibrary\steamapps\common and delete folder “Limitless”
  • Restart the PC (it is important bcs that way PC deletes all old registry entries regarding previous FS24 installation
  • After reboot, install game thru Steam
    You should be fine!
Just in case, if you don’t know how to disable cloud save in Steam, here you go:

Thanks! I am working through it. Did the “Limitless” folder get created on the second install? I thought I deleted a “Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024” folder on the first reinstall…

Thanks again for that procedure, but it did not work. Once again, it did not ask me to login, and it just put the old problems back.
