Relative Newcomer - Comanche Really Does 'Feel' Like Flying

I won’t do the details justice and definitely not a pilot, but after reading and watching the reviews of the A2A Comanche, and unfortunately having a store balance, I jumped - and happy I did. I have more planes than I need, always looking for that ‘feel’ I thought an aircraft should have being riden through the sky - and I found it.

This is the first GA plane that made me understand how a Yoke (HC Alpha) and pedals (VKB) should work together - they have weight, pull, balance and torque you can feel as you move the controls. You feel and understand the lag of the controls on the plane and get in tune with the flight.

The Comanche is also surprisingly very accessible for a newcomer - the switches, instruments and controls are pretty straightforward and easy to get familiar with - and just enough to keep your brain fully occupied but not overloaded.

I use the PMS750 in the plane (have the full version) and get complete autopilot control, flight plan and maps so that is great. As others have said this plane is a joy to fly - I literally had smiles on my face all night flying out of Logan - and very realistic. It’s also very approachable and easy to get into for anyone who watches a couple of videos to get an overview. Highly recommended.

I fully agree she is a fantastic plane no matter what radios or GPS you decide on. The original autopilot is actually very handy too and works well for me even when using the PMS750.

If you want another plane that “feels” really good try the Rans6 by Flyboy. It’s a cheap lil bush plane that might just surprise you in the air and on the ground! You will get that really flying feel for sure.

Another happy FS2020 user? Warms my heart.
I’m really enjoying the Comanche.

Fully agreed! My two favourite planes are the A2A Comanche and the Rans by Flyboy. They both capture the feeling of flight in different ways. Head and shoulders above the rest of the pack.

The Comanche is the first plane I’ve had for ages where I’m totally happy and absorbed just circuit-bashing. Every circuit feels different, all the checks are necessary. Even the walkaround matters - I had a broken rudder linkage the other day but spotted it in time. It’s a joy! I honestly feel like I need to do some serious planning before I go anywhere, now, because it’s added that extra level of immersion.

I’m really looking forward to Beyond ATC, and then I’ll be a completely happy bunny!
