RELEASE NOTES 1.2.11.0 Discussion

If we are waiting for Sim Update 1 it means you are operating based on normal planned schedule. I fear normal planned schedule with SU1 then months later SU2 etc might clearly not be enough due to the current state of various and multiple aspects of Flight Simulator 2024 and it’s delivery Infrastructure.

Yes, my VR graphics settings had changed to “ultra” everywhere from mostly high and medium.
Reset them to previous settings and performance is about the same as before the patch.

I don’t do VR but Some of mine had gone from Ultra to High!!! Changed back, all is good! Not sure why these things happen …

From reading Seedy’s post and the latest blog update I have gathered patches will be released before SU1.

This post resonates with me. It’s one thing to express dissatisfaction, but so many posters go far beyond that with outright toxicity towards the developers and community managers that is quite shameful. I do not think this is the best strategy to reach the results you want.

In my day job as a software developer and in my hobby as a freeware sim developer, the goal is the same, to provide a quality user experience. But any individual only has a small sphere of influence over the whole product. You work within the system as best you can.

Anyone that has been around these forums for some time would have had the opportunity to read the large threads prior to the MSFS 2024 launch that speculated if it was ready for release and concluded that it was destined to have issues. If they continued to purchase the sim after that, they have to take the responsibility for that decision. If you think the sim should have had more time for development, then it’s on you to wait until you have evidence that it will meet your needs. If you found out about the sim through other channels, you have more of an excuse for not doing the research.

I’m not excusing the horrible launch but this is what we have. Either find parts of the sim that work for you or put it on the shelf for a while until it meets your needs.

So if you are planning to buy a long sleeve shirt from a brand name at $150-$200, and it comes without sleeves and portions of it are cut and the fabric is locally damaged, and this happens repeatedly (with several orders), you will say don’t disrespect the company and the employees who work there, they are all poor laborers? I would think that you would have a different approach and for sure will complain.

I do agree though, some people go overboard and disrespecting is never good, period. But the companies should care about their image and their product and most importantly deliver on what they promise they will deliver. Otherwise, this is how free market works. You promise a product, you don’t deliver, people complain, write bad reviews and your company is gone or you address the issue. Simple as that.

Like you, I haven’t had too many issues with MSFS 2024, except at the very beginning but that’s because I don’t feel like complaining about how they have designed the UI, the controls, etc. All I care for is the plane flying and relatively ok performance. But if I was to write what they had promised and advertised vs. what they delivered, it would be a long disappointing list.

100% agree. This community makes even casual browsing of topics a depressing slog. I used to say that the Steam forums had the most toxic and abusive people, but this place is snuggling up awful close to them.

There are of course many thoughtful, helpful, mature posters here that make the forum worthwhile, but I am often amazed at how some posters spend so much energy posting angry diatribes or demand that they be served, and they do it over and over, hour after hour, day after day, beating that dead horse again and again. I can’t imagine what that does to your soul.

That’s definitely agreeable until you factor in money. The moment you take a client’s money everything is on you to make good no matter what it takes.

Do you believe society would be better, without the people that take a stand to demand better?

No.

Do I think those people should also be borderline unhinged? Also no.

I never asked that second question, but thank you for the demonstration of your thinking.

You know part of the reason why the flight sim community is one of the most detestable to the rest of the gaming community on the internet is the level of self indulgence and elitist mania with anyone who disagreed or acted with emotion about a perceived injustice, problem etc etc this list is endless as you know.

It’s negative for the future of the hobby to think that some would rather loose community members and dwindle numbers just to achieve the echo chamber of agreement.
It is lost to them that this level of psychopathy will eventually kill their community and their beloved games will no longer be profitable to the corporate world that produces them.

It does not need to be this way. Sometimes it is better to let the fire put itself out.

Next up it will be OMG.dll, TMI.dll, BRB.dll, or IDK.dll, I’m sure of it. ROFL.

People paid a lot of money for this, already forgotten?
Where was written that we get a working game a year later?

Unfortunately I’m on Xbox X so deprived of some of the good useful addons out there. But in sim ATC is atrocious. Clearance clear you direct to cruise flight level, Centre warning you of other aircraft that aren’t there? But the worst thing is during the descent, ATC clear you to a new FL and the copilot then asks for clearance again to your original destination, so your cleared to you original destination but asked to maintain your cruise FL again.:thinking:

Let’s put things back into perspective.
1.We get beautiful trailers and promises for FS2024
2. We’re excited and some of us even pay up to $200 upfront.
3. We get a wrecked piece of software (just like FS2020, so second time around)
4. We get no communication
5. We get no fixes (2 months in now)

What would you expect to be the response from the community?
The absurdity of the release is linear with the reactions MS/Asobo gets.

I see your point but look at it from another prospective. How many brand new cars have people bought and had to return to the dealership due to faults not picked up by QC at both the factory or dealership. These cars cost a lot more than any edition of a sim. But in the end you finish up with what you’ve paid for. I’m sure this will be the case with MSFS 2024.

True maybe, but how many customers go back to the dealership/manufacturer that sold an incomplete or problematic vehicle? There in lays the difference with a captive audience.
The people who are frustrated have a point and that can never be taken from them no matter how much rationalisation or explaining away is done.
There will always be a few of the annoyed that amp up to be problematic for the corporate body, they get banned. The rest who are the majority more than likely just want to be heard or recognised for the injustice they feel has been put upon them.

I have had a new lease car every 3 years for the last 15 years and not one of them has had any significant faults on them so from my perspective this doesn’t seem a very relevant comparison.

Like hotcakes, you wait three weeks to serve them they’re not hotcakes anymore

On the other hand if this is their definition of “hotfix” then we can plan on regular patches taking months or years. How many hotfixes will be needed for their patches?
