[RELEASED 9/26] Flysimware Sierra C24

My Plane is not a goofball

The Sierra i a wonderful plane to fly IRL … Yes it would be great if they had understood some of the aerodynamic characteristics back in the day and would have probably gotten 10 Kts TAS better out of the platform.

But having 2 inches wider cabin than the Bo and a Pilot side door really did make for a comfortable traveler.

125 KTAS with 65% power and 135 KTAS with 75% power.

about 8.5 to 9 Gallons per hour @ 65% and 10 to 10.5 @ 75% …

Heh well I went down some owner forums rabbit holes on the Sierra and it’s robust build, solid flying capability room and convenience and it’s miserly cruise as I wasn’t familiar. There’s times when I just want to do honest IFR in an honest GA aircraft and I know this is a passion project at fsw like the 414. So pretty much a definite purchase for me for those times when I don’t want to feel like I have an endless billion dollar hangar. Same reason I fly the Archer II without wheel pants more than the TBM. I hope they get cloud turbulence better in 2024 for planes like this.

What’r you guys talking about. A C24 is fast compared to a Piper Tomahawk.

It’s out! Did anyone bite?

You literally posted above a post called Sierra C24

I really don’t need another GA aircraft … but it’s flysimware and I’ve loved all of their aircraft so I went ahead and bought it.

Flies very well, I really like this and will most likely take over from the COWS Diamond as my site seeing cruiser. Only thing I noticed which might be true to life was the battery turns on all of the 750’s and as far as I can tell the avionics switch only controls the transponder. I would think avionics would control the 750, but maybe not?

There are a whole bunch of different ways to scan topics on this forum. Didn’t see that duplicate topic, and expected that impressions would be here and either @Jacobes16 or the mods would update the title to “released.” I would expect that’ll happen and that other topic will end up merged here eventually…

Thanks for the impressions, @SArcher8818! I really don’t need this, and would only consider a plane in this class at this point if it came from A2A or… well… FlySimWare. So, considering it.

Apologies on not updating the main post.

Fun little plane although it is causing some issue with my Tobii, but that’s not a problem for this thread.

Happy Flying Y’all!

For those who fly a LOT of GA, is this worth getting? I think I have every GA plane LOL. Not sure I need another but this looks really well done.

It is very well done and I can say from experience the Musketeer series is much more fun to fly than the Skyhawk, Skylane and Cherokees. The nose-down attitude and forward seating position give great visibility forward and down. The cabin is 2in wider than that of a contemporary Bonanza. The aircraft is very stable in level flight but still much more responsive than the competition due to its large ailerons.
All that comes with a slightly lacking cruise speed and at the cost of higher fuel consumption, which in MSFS is only a minor problem.

It is kind of in a unique slot as the only aircraft comparable to something akin to a Comanche type level in the sub 150KT GA single class of traditional yoke ‘maybe someday’ choices. Plus the comprehensive Steam/Glass choice of suites is a 2-in-1. In this class I’m always in some modded Cessna 172 or the 182RG, I never did get into the JF Pipers. In the executive singles the Mooney and V35 are ‘pretty good’, but usually I end up going faster and kind of leap frog the Comanche envelope to pressurized high-fliers like the FSR500 or 414. I imagine it’d be a little bit tougher to decide if your were invested in the Pipers.

Doing less automated traditional IFR/ILS and cross country flight in a very common speed range this really is going to be the most detailed and involved choice.

If you like it now, 2024 doesn’t have any ‘mysterious possible replacement’ in the lineup. Pretty safe add to the hangar.

Very cool livery Tim. With that look and the gear up, it could be easily mistaken for a G36 at first glance. :+1:t2::slightly_smiling_face:

I have a pinched nerve that of course hurts the worst sitting in office chairs for the past few days… Installed it a little while ago going to have at with a few circuits later. :small_airplane:

Downloaded it today. I am flying in VR and the plane looks great. I am having some issues with major stuttering in plane. Also when I set an arrival airport the plane is loading in the water or terrain. Departing from airport is good but they need to fix the bugs. It is unplayable for me in this condition.

I could only do about an hour with my shoulder tonight, bunch of circuits and some basic AP to fool around with engine management settings. Seems nice and gritty like the 414. Have to play with the trim and trim axis sensitivity as it seemed a bit over enthusiastic, but I haven’t read the manual or utilized electric trim yet nor messed around different weights before having any actual opinion yet. General handling and t/o and landing felt great. Flying coordinated proper turns and positioning the aircraft is super nice and throttle management on the approach is fantastic. Definitely feels like you’re there.

I usually go right to clean glass mods but love the tint on this one. Awesome view out and all the interior proportions are dead on, even the default position is perfect, which is very rare. Not many aircraft have the view out, interior proportions, and the interior bits all scaled out perfectly. Comfy place to be.

Only thing I have for now is the ground tire rumble is a bit too high as it takes away from the wonderful engine sounds and it’s translation through the buttkicker.

I fly solely VR and haven’t noticed any stuttering, as for setting arrival airport, I haven’t done that yet, I’ve just been flying around PG areas doing touch and goes, but I’ll see if I can replicate that loading in terrain or water bug and report back later.

EDIT: No problems on my side whatsoever. Loads perfectly every time and in different Liveries too.

How come this aircraft has only a 3.1/5 stars rating on the marketplace? Everything I’ve seen so far suggests this is an excellent add-on. Is there a problem with it? It doesn’t work properly on Xbox maybe? Or Flysimware has “enemies”?
