Okay, cheers. I’m not sure of the difference so will have to check tomorrow. Is that like the post SU5 thing that let’s you revert to the old style of UI?
If so personally I would think needs specification as isn’t the default and its a huge assumption that everyone is clued into the forums and UI. Especially once on the Marketplace
That is precisely it. With SU5 Asobo defaulted for some unfathomable reason to the XBox style mouse interaction even on a PC but you had the option to go back to legacy UI/mouse.
Most PC users will already have switched back to legacy mouse as the huge mouse overs in the XBox mode are really annoying plus XBox UI/mouse mode breaks a lot of aircraft including some of the default ones.
This is NOT legacy flight model. It is the legacy UI/Mouse option.
The “pulsating sound” is an issue with hot starts on the runway or in the air.
The solution is to hit the special quick start handle down by the pilots left hip, next to the cold start handle. Quick start is to the rear, cold start is the front handle. Your regular Ctrl-E (if bound to default auto start engine) won’t work here, you need to hit the quick start handle as it’s a custom solution.
It may possibly be too tame no idea. Never flown a real life early war Spit
It definitely has the post March 1941 “Shilling” device as there are no stutters and black smoke from flooding under neg G.
However it is important to remember that hard does not always equate to realistic. The Carenado WACO being a classic example of being hard but totally unrealistic.
Haven’t bought it yet but for what it’s worth, early-war Spits (and the Mk I in particular) were known for being easy to handle. “No vices” was the verdict in the pilot’s report after the initial test flight. Some pilots preferred later marks for various reasons but there was a general feeling that the Mk I came closest to Mitchell’s original design intentions and was exceptionally well balanced.
The Mk IX modeled by Flying Iron is a completely different story. Lots more torque from a much bigger, more powerful, heavier Merlin, driving a four-bladed prop and housed in a longer nose. So much more power to manage and the weight and balance is completely different. It’s a beast.
In FSX/P3D, the A2A Mk I/Mk II was my favorite ride among their warbirds - I went back to it constantly after getting tired of wrangling the Mustang and the P-40. Hoping for more of the same from AH in MSFS.
mmm, they might have a slightly different texture, but they would still have the same paint on top, so in all probablity the same shine. I find the texture a bit rough, the canvas on these ailerons is, from what I’ve seen, always very smooth. If I look at any pics of contempory or WW2 Spitfires, I never see this much difference between wings and ailerons.
But I do see more difference between dark green and dark earth, here they look the same to me (but OK, I’m colorblind)
It could very much be dialled down a bit thats for sure, its like the texture is designed to be seen at 1080p, so people with higher res monitors just see what looks like a mesh of dirt across the surfaces.
Dellghted to have [yet] another Spitfire in my collection! The AH MkI is a stunner - but I have a few problems - and can’t seem to find a forum dedicated to AH aircraft … so…
The brakes instrument and pedal animations are correct - but the wrong wheels are braked (they’re reversed).
Similarly the rudder trim knob rotates in the wrong direction - though the effect is correct. It’s also incredibly s-l-o-w.
The fabric ailerons were replaced by metal skinned ones by the end of summer 1940 and I assume any replicas or modern restorations in museums would use the better metal ailerons. Certainly any MkV / MKIX etc photos will be metal ailerons. It may be somewhat tricky to actually find photos of fabric covered MK1A control surfaces .
Just my luck… This livery was the one I’ve been using to make acquaintance with the plane.
Spent some hours yesterday to read the manual, to make some screenshots of the cockpit panels and printing them - by the way these should be included in the printer friendly odt file, so many objects to learn - and after a long time proceeding to a cold start, first flight.
Delightful. The spit is like those famous american V-Twins whose bikers say : you don’t ride a H-D, it’s the H-D who allows YOU to ride it. Same for the spitfire, that’s what I think.
I’ve got one issue non-mentionned in this thread : Left and Right quickview are unusable, they only show the inner left flank or the inner right flank of the cockpit, making viewing outside of the plane impossible. First time I’ve the problem, not seen with any other plane. Am I the only one?
