Hi there,
After my first release (AYYZ Yambaitok and landscape enhacement), I’m now working on another challenging mountain airstrip in Papua New Guinea : Yawan airstrip (AYYW).
There is a payware from Orbx but I believe this freeware is gonna be better, including the magnificent waterfall that overlooks the village and much more details.
Here are some previews (work in progress)

It looks absolutely beautiful… this could get me away from my little flight area around the Northeast U.S., lol

I like what I’m seeing. And as far as the Orbx version goes: I had to teach myself how to use the scenery editor in the SDK to remove the trees in the final approach, and your version looks pretty decent in that regard.
But I’d like to make an additional comment: I hesitate to install several additional libraries that many freeware sceneries require, just for the sake of traceabilty in the worst case. Of course I get that creating all scenery components by your own is a lot to ask.
I suggest that you think of making sure that your version takes precedence over the Orbx scenery, so that those who bought it can benefit from your efforts.
Keep up your good work!
Indeed, creating my own 3d models instead of using freeware libraries would be very very time consuming. The libraries I use are very famous and used by many dev. I could repackage the assets I use to make them part of the download but, in most cases, I can’t (not legal) and I don’t wan’t anyway cause it’s a waste of space, each scenery file would contain a copy of each asset.
In terms of priority (if I understand what you mean), I myself own the orbx version that includes AYDN and AYYE. I Just had to delete AYYW in the scenery package to make sure there was no conflict. I will publish easy instructions on release which is very soon now.

I discovered Papua New Guinea’s airstrips in MSFS while looking for places to fly bush trips. And… I always come back there. Landscapes are so beautiful and every airstrip has its own challenges. I would recommend you try leaving your little “confort zone” for a while and give PNG a try. Especially with my add-ons…

Just uploaded a v1.0 : https://flightsim.to/file/81403/ayyw-yawan-airstrip-papua-new-guinea-waterfall-and-landscape-enhancement
It will soon be available to download.
FEATURES :
- Complete rework of the terrain (terraforming, grass and soil textures, runway profile, rocks…)
- Complete rework of the river (water bed, waterfalls, rocks, vegetation, colours…)
- Enhancement of the vegetation (using native assets + freeware libraries)
- Accurate rebuild of the village from online pictures and video (using native assets + freeware libraries)
- Accurate airfield configuration (no ground services, correct windsock, cones, take off and landing orientation, parking spots)
- Includes a helipad at the nearby village of Worin, on the other side of the valley (visual reference for approaching runway 15)
- Includes a PDF chart for visual approach
It must be used with the “No More Rivers - Papua New Guinea” freeware mod by B4DG3R (https://flightsim.to/file/54979/no-more-rivers-papua-new-guinea).
The screenshots are taken using the payware “Bijan’s 4 seasons” mod wich changes the vegetation biome (recommended but not mandatory).
The package contains two versions : one to be used alongside with Bijan’s mod, and one to be used without it.
If you wan’t to use this scene alongside with the Orbx payware (which also contains the nearby Dinangat and Yalumet airstrips), go to your “orbx-airports-png-highlands-pack1” folder (it can be either in the Community folder or the Official forder, depending on where you’ve bought it). Then, in the sub-folder “Scenery”, delete everything related to AYYW Yawan.
Performance :
On my end, it runs smooth, even with 4K and TLOD 400. Sometimes, the waterfall animation takes a little time to trigger when you load the scene (maybe 30 seconds). After several tests, I couldn’t find any problem with terrain morphing, even though I had to do a lot of terraforming.
Let me know if you see any problem on your end.
