Eck doesn’t sound great. Sorry you wasted your dosh on it. That’s a shame I was >this close< to grabbing it but managed to resist, then I found your comment. Thanks for TOFTT!
Oh dear….
When did you purchase it? (Was it the MP release or earlier?)
How many flights have you done in it?
What’s the flight model like?
Have you got some screenshots of the texture problems?
Would be good to get more info before I make my mind up as I’ve had my eye on a 510 for a while - iconic VLJ
There are no dodgy textures and no looping sounds evident where you can hear the joins. The aircraft model is hugely fun to fly and has very good reviews on YouTube. I do not regret buying it today, and I look forward to visiting many interesting airports with it.
Charles.
Feel free to join the Cockspur discord and reach out to us, or post it in the correct Feedback Support sections. Look forward to hearing from you soon

Flight model is pretty good. The plane is pretty fast, but the Throttle is a bit strange, maxing it out kills the engines.
Many Thanks for the info - think I’m going to add it to my collection based on this
Many Thanks for the info - based on video, screenshots, and the fact it seems to have a good FM, I’m going to add it to my collection. Always wanted the 510 Mustang which always used to make a distinctive noise on the ramp.
I’ve had it since release, and I really like it. I do, however, have a preference for business jets. I haven’t flown it since the AAU1 update, but it’s been a joy to fly when I have.
I bought it on day one on Xbox and I really like it! It is my first bizjet, and for a long time the fastest regular-flyer in my hangar was the Kodiak. So I kind of felt the need for speed and when the Mustang came to Xbox, it was really a no-brainer. I can highly recommend it, the sound-set could be better, but she is really nice to fly!
If I recall correctly, ‘737 Driver’ made a review video of the Mustang and was obviously using FSRealistic. I think he had been experimenting with FSRealistic sounds because there was an FS Realistic ‘wind gust’ sound looping in the background. I think 737 Driver had forgotten to click ‘DONE’ in FSRealistic thereby leaving FSRealistic in ‘PREVIEW’ mode. Anyhow, the annoying wind gust sound was not originating from this aircraft model. This may be the origin of the false assertation that this model has looping sounds.
People really need to get their facts correct and not make arbitrary statements which could undermine a developer unnecessarily. I can see from their work that this is a hard-working and conscientious developer that takes pride in their work. If you have any issues with this plane, please leave feedback in their Discord server. This will help all of us.
Here is a good reason to support this developer, they are working on this Gulfstream G650 along with an Indie developer who works for Gulfstream. At least that’s what I understand.
I can’t wait, I never thought this was going to happen…
Charles.
Yes, just took the plunge and flown a 1.11 flight.
This really is very nice.
Sounds are excellent - great start up, good Edit: “climb “not “slime” (typo)cruise, decent and no signs of any looping,
Systems pretty much work fine - couple of minor issues with the G1000NX integration which probably need WT to work on - SPD switch doesn’t provide Mach trasnsition, MFD keyboard doesn’t function. Alt knob doesn’t accelerate so takes a while to select altitude. But these are minor niggles to be honest.
Flight Model exceptionally good and the performance seems about right - 23 minutes climb to FL360 and cruise speed of 335kts with a 4kt headwind.
A real joy to fly - landing easy too as long as you remember to round out only and not flare - which is the technique with this one.
The devs have done a good job, to be honest, it’s worth the asking price and their liking for the 510 shines through. Love the smartphone functionality and the red carpet and Limo for the VIP.
I like business jets too and will certainly consider their next offering
Thanks to all who provided comments on this - and thanks to the dev team too for bringing us this truly iconic jet.
Thank you Stendec for your great review. Yes, you are right. The developer is waiting for Working Title to provide an up-date to the G1000X so that it can be integrated, this is why the MFD keyboard letter buttons do not work. Just press the little ‘keyboard’ icon on the display and you can type directly into the G1000NX without fiddling with push buttons. This is a better and more ergonomic way to use the system within the flight simulator.
AVAngel has made a great/entertaining video of a medical evacuation using the Mustang in Australia. This is a fun way to use this aircraft! She is very keen on this aircraft model…
I think FSRealistic is also being used in this video by AVAngel. She is obviously a real medical person, judging by this video.
Charles
One last video for those who feel ‘on the fence’ about buying this aircraft…Just check out the engine start-up-sounds from the Mustang in the video below. This video from ‘Twotonemurphy’ is very enjoyable. This is a very early model in the video.
Charles.
From my experiences today, the sounds are convincing in all flight phases - a very immersive experience and the start-up and shut-down sounds are particularly good…
No evidence of any “ looping “ at all - it would have driven me crazy if there was any. There isn’t.
Another 2 hr flight under my belt to Valencia, Spain… edit (EGJJ - LEVC) at FL400 with 337kts TAS
Stendec,
I flew from Eagle KEGE with two passengers and headed off in a random direction with some fuel over the stunning Colorado mountains and just took a chance on landing somewhere. I ended up in the middle of New Mexico at SV5 Shiprock Airport. There is an amazing little mountain there which looks like Devils Tower in USA. I wonder what my passengers would have thought, a pilot who did not know where he was going. Fun to do though!
Charles.
Wow, thank you (and @TheAviator3506) for sharing your experiences. You’ve made me reconsider the Mustang. I was interested in it when it was first released, but when I saw so many complaints online, I decided it wasn’t for me. I like in-depth add-ons like the FSW 414AW, Milviz 310, Just Flight BAe-146, etc. I thought I would probably be disappointed by the Mustang.
But I like the real-life airplane’s characteristics. I find it more interesting than the Cirrus Vision Jet. If the sim version is good, I’m interested in getting it.
Do either of you have the SF50 Vision Jet or the HJet from FlightFX? If so, how do you feel about the Mustang in comparison to either of those?
That is a dry tough question to answer… Charles has more business jet knowledge than me ( and a lot of knowledge of the Mustang) so his comments will be more helpful, I’m sure.
Have you looked at the AAU1 CJ4 too? I say that because it has had WT fairy dust sprinkled on the avionics which is a really nice implementation of the Collins Proline system… but the flight model means it is now very very tricky to land nicely - something not quite right I think though Im not sure what it is - would need an IRL pilot to comment. I mention this one as if you’re very keen on systems, learning the proline and its performance set up probably gives you the deepest systems experience. …
I think it has to be a personal choice between the other three. I wouldn’t say they are “study level” and each has their own strong and weak points. I don’t think you could go wrong with any of them, to be honest. The Visionjet has the lightest feel of all of them - you’ll get bounced and blown about a lot… the Hjet is a touch faster than the Mustang - you’ll get about 400kts out of it at FL400 and it has very capable VNAV and now even an AT option. Pretty good flight model too
And the Mustang - well I like the G1000NX implementation- once WT have done a bit more on it the integration should be even better. I think it has the best feeling ( most convincing, anyway) flight model and sounds so for me it’s got a much more immersive feel than any of the others but if you like performance planning and tweaking pressurisation systems, it may not have quite the system depth you want. It’s a personal choice - for me the Mustang just edges it but other flyers might prefer one of the other three.
So after all that, I haven’t really answered your question at all…
Hello Marc,
Yes, I purchased the Honda Jet and the PMDG 737 800 along with the Kodiak for Christmas. I don’t have the Vision Jet, it’s an interesting looking aircraft but the cockpit panel is a bit too modern looking for me. I would really like a sexy elegant Gulfstream, I will wait for the upcoming G650 to be released by Cockspur.
The HJet and the Mustang make great ‘bed fellows’.
Both are very interesting aircraft designs. At the moment I am watching lots of videos about the Mustang, in particular from, ‘Flying with Rich’. Both the HJet and the Mustang have a lot of charm and both are extremely well modelled in the simulator. The bad press about the Mustang is unfounded, in my opinion.
The developer is still committed to evolving the aircraft model. There are many pay-ware aircraft available for the simulator that have unfinished aspects to them and bugs that need to be ironed out. There are a few knobs that are inoperative and the G1000 is awaiting up-dates from Working Title before the developer can provide full functionality between the aircraft and the G1000. This is not the developers fault and is certainly not a deal breaker.
I believe the aircraft is fairly priced in the MS Store and it’s truly a fantastic addition to my virtual hangar. Putting things in to perspective, the PMDG 737 is still waiting on additional functionality to be added, alas you dont hear people running PMDG down for that!
Ultimately the decision is yours, to buy or not to buy. I would say go-ahead and buy because I doubt you will be disappointed. There are a few sounds missing, the door does not make a sound when it’s opened and closed. A few of the switches do not click, neither of these missing sounds bother me. I know they will be added. That is my only criticism of this aircraft model.
One of the most elegant looking airplanes in the world, (that’s my opinion) is apparently soon to roll out of the Cockspur hangar, the Gulfstream G650, as far as I understand an Indi developer who works for Gulfstream is involved with it’s development. If it’s modelled as well as the Mustang, I will be a very, very, ‘happy bunny!’. I am particularly interested in business jets. I worked for a FBO in the UK handling corporate aircraft in the 90’s.
I have fallen in love with this Mustang from the developer Cockspur. Just watch the video’s but bear-in-mind some of the video reviewers are using FSRealistic with some poor sound choices. The default FSRealistic ‘wind sound’ sound’s awful with this aircraft and makes a gusty looping wind sound. I believe that this has lead many people to assume the wind sound heard in the videos, is programmed into the aircraft model. IT IS MOST UNEQUIVICOALLY NOT.
The volumetric lighting effect from the landing lights is superb. Taxiing this aircraft is a delight, I feel as if I am really taxiing in a real aircraft due to the inertial physics and programming of the aircraft model. Standing on the brakes makes the nose of the model dip quite satisfyingly. I love it!
The Mustang probably costs the equivalent of 7-10 average coffees in the UK, that’s great value. I know I would rather have the Mustang simulator. A coffee in ‘Timmies’ is £3.50 from what I recall.
Take care.
Charles.
Keep in touch and let us know what your decision was regarding your potential purchase.
For me the Mustang just feels right to fly - I like the Hjet too but I just don’t get that feeling when I fly it and I’d rather feel like I’m flying than have all the buttons and switches working. So I’ve taken to it in a big way now too - and will definitely watch what the devs come up with next - they obviously have a great deal of knowledge and experience - along with a great deal of passion for what they do.
Nice work on this mod! Two requests: a bit more ambient lighting at night for the black dashboard, and upgraded sound proofing in the cabin. The engine sound is loud at the front, so it must be bad at the back.
