Sort of? It’s a good release, but not a classic one, if that makes any sense. There are a lot of little things that could be improved, and probably will be at some point, but nothing really game-breaking, I think. Things like textures, or not having a more full-featured EFB, no instrumentation options beyond the G3000, and such.
The game-breaking complaint I had (see above) about the engines and fuel burn were fixed via patch, and it made a HUGE difference. I’ve been flying it off and on, and have enjoyed it (except for the cameras, which are terrible).
If the HJet didn’t exist, I’d say it’s a clear and definitive upgrade over the stock Citation and the upgrade-only Longitude. But the HJet does exist, and it’s just a little more polished and complete (although it, too, has its issues). It comes down to relative price, I think.
My problem is that simbrief says that a flight from KSTL to KDLH exceeded aircraft range. That was with 2 people. The flight was about 600 or so miles. The pdf says the C510 has a 1,000 nm range. I even tried KORD to KDLH (300 or so nm). I have 1.0.5 version.
It’s a G1000 and that’s what the plane has in IRL. I’m not aware of other panel options. Anyway, I don’t hold that against the plane at all. The G1000 is also the best avionics suite the sim currently has (thanks to WT).
I’ll always, always, always prefer to use the GTN750 in the sim, for one reason only: TOUCHSCREEN. (And the PMS one does have WT’s tech built-in now, if the plane supports it.) Dial-click is a decent way to input data in real life, and can be relatively quick once you get the hang of it – but in the sim, it’s gruellingly slow., and incredibly frustrating.
I have no doubts that I could enter a full flight plan in a real-life G1000 in a couple of minutes, tops. In the sim, it would probably take over half an hour. Nope!
I agree that in the sim the input into the G1000 is a bit annoying. Luckily it got keyboard entry which makes it a bit better (on PC at least). The position of the knobs in the mustang also doesn’t help
All that being said, there is a mod that puts the GTN750 into a lot of G1000 planes. Not sure it’s available for the mustang, though.
Yes – JayDee has a series of mods to add the 750 where it isn’t currently avalable, and he just recently added the Mustang to the list. But that add-on has been causing some issues for me recently (in the past it’s worked great, so there must be a conflict), so I’ve deactivated it for the time being.
I THINK the long-term plan is to code in the Mustang’s keypad and make it usable, which would be a big improvement over the dials, but I’m not sure if that really is the plan, or how long it might take…
That would need WT to support it. This affects any aircraft that has the separate keyboard entry unit. The SR22 is default and also has this unit but the keyboard portion is currently inop.
Im curious about people complaining about text hard to read. Since coming back to SU10 I have noticed the change in sharpness even with the new AMD sharpen tool at 100. I often find myself squinting to read text in almost all planes now. Are people actually complaining about an issue here or just the sim in general now because I see this issue in almost all my planes now.
I have tried AMD Sharpen disabled and it looks even worse. However I am skeptical about oversharpening with a 200 setting to fix these issues. Anyone else notice this in general on SU10. I run TAA, 16X AF with no DLSS and Sharpen is enabled in sim and AMD Sharpen set to 100 by default. After losing my sim config I had to redo everything and with SU10 there is a general loss of focus on text quality when reading panels or anything that is a few feet away from the camera.
For me, AMD sharpening has been the culprit. I had it on 120, and all the text in the C510 cockpit was fuzzy and not readable. I’ve set it back to 100, and everything is good again, crisp text all over the panels. (with TAA and DX11 that is)
And just as a tip:
Use the knob and the buttons on the lower right corner of the PFD to enter the flight plan, it’s much easier! (Just in case anyone has missed that function)
For the keypad to work it will likely need WT´s assistance. Even more important than the keypad itself is the correct MFD. The cabin pressurization settings and CAS messages are to be displayed here. I am really looking forward fo WT to make the PFD/MFD customizable. Very important to reprogram the display on popouts too. For example in reversionary mode the MFD is no longer clickable and on a popped out MFD nothing changes in rev. mode. This really needs work.
In regard to the Mustang I noticed the left thrustlever to not deliver the same sound effects as the right one does. If I go full thrust on left I can hardly hear anything. The right thrust´s sound is fine.
And yet ANOTHER “not ready for prime time” release. Geez, why don’t developers put out a completed version of their work? Too bad, because this is an excellent aircraft that has been half-■■■ produced.
I’m a IRL Mustang pilot and have been using the RWDesign Mustang in X-plane for a number of years. I’m been waiting to move to MSFS2020 for 2 years and just couldn’t make the change because of the nonfunctional avionics and inaccurate weather in MSFS2020. With the introduction of the Cockspur Mustang, WT G1000Nxi, and SU10 I finally have a solution that actually works for me! The Cockspur Mustang is certainly flyable in its current state, especially with the WT G1000Nxi. I look forward to future updates that improve the systems modeling and performance. I am totally happy with my purchase.
