Yes, Captain Sim. Great for casual users who want to get up and go, but not for those looking for systems accuracy. One repaint pack released so far, with aircraft updates and additional liveries to come.
Most of the “super serious simmers” here will think it’s trash, but I think there’s a place for aircraft that cater to the easy/casual fliers too.
CS is accepting bug reports / feedback on their official forums.
I am fortunate to be able to afford these “starter” aircraft while we wait for more complex versions. I love all DC-9 variants, which are also rare in X Plane, so this is a good “wait until”. Solution. Once K at FTSim+ gives it his great sound pack treatment, and with some paint editing, it will suffice for a while!
Ok, it costs more than four times as much, but it’s worth it.
I can understand if a casual simmer won’t pay that much money for a plane, but sorry: I can’t take CS seriously anymore. Not even for casual simming. Putting an Airbus cockpit into a Boeing (i.e. McDonnell Douglas) is simply ridiculous.
This developer existing isn’t a problem, it’s their right. It’s a niche. When I play “Eurotruck”, I don’t know anything about trucks, they’re all the same. People who buy CS have the same idea about airplanes, my girlfriend for example. She has no idea whether she’s traveled 8 hours in an Airbus or a Boeing. It’s not a problem. She would love a CS to play at landing on an aircraft carrier.
The problem is that the MSFS Marketplace sells it and doesn’t make it explicitly clear what it’s about, with misleading prices. They took advantage of the fact that reimbursement is a problem.
Ignoring CS is about character. They are cynical. See their forum.
Meh, A year ago when I was new to to FS I immediately saw the ratings and didn’t fall for it. Anyone who doesn’t research what they’re about to buy deserves it. Fortunately we have youtubers etc that will let us know about even the newest products.
I do think MS should have some kind of quality standards though. It’s annoying having to wade through the trash since they won’t implement filters for such things.
If I’d not fallen victim to the 777 on release, and been disappointed by the egregious C-130 release, I’d snatch this up. Definitely going to wait for impressions.
I don’t need hardcore detail, but those who know what all was wrong with the 777 will empathize with my caution.
The description of the cockpit makes it sounds like a step up, but…
COCKPIT AND CABIN
• Classic 717-200 flight deck, brand-new model built from scratch including high resolution textures
• Essential functionality simulated, as well as:
– Autopilot
– Electrical system
– Hydraulic system
– Fuel system
– Air system
– Flight-Control system
– Engine Start system
– Lighting • Some systems linked to default systems
• Custom views
…the “some systems linked to default systems” is gonna need more explanation after the 777 fiasco. The only Boeing twin included with MSFS is the 787.
Also, disappointed that the liveries cost extra and they didn’t even include Hawaiian Airlines.
Usually I’m frustrated by the negativity on new releases around here, but so far Captain Sim is batting .000 on MSFS releases.
[EDIT: From the comments on the official MSFS forum, sounds like the default systems are from the A320 Neo, which are nothing like what you find in a 717. Ugh.]
I mean… it’s captainsim. They don’t care about quality, they care about maximizing profit by putting in the least amount of effort possible. And then raking in even more profit by selling livery packs.
Get a model, throw in whatever stock sim systems that are required to make it flyable, and call it a day. It’s been their business model in MSFS since day one. If people haven’t figured that out by now, they really need to do more research.
Nope, there is no place for this at all. The casual simmers have the stock airliners to play around in. Why would you pay extra for an airliner that is much worse than the default ones? Garbage developer.
Simply mind your business and wallet when it comes to what I want to enjoy.
Don’t like it, then don’t buy it and move on.
Someone’s going to enjoy it somehow, and some modder is gonna give it some TLC soon, just as they did the CS 767.
Actually, back in the day CS were a somewhat decent developer. Years ago their 727, 707 and other older products were amazing, no chucking default systems into a new model. If you ever have a spare minute, go read the reviews from the FS2004 days.
Even their old C130 was good, not the one out nowadays without even a cockpit.
