Thank you for all of the work that you put into this. I will definitely be trying this out in the future. It is crazy that this is even possible in MSFS and it blows me away that you were willing to create a sextant application to make this a reality. Well done!

I’ve always been fascinated by celestial navigation and I think I’ve got the gist of how it works from YouTube videos but I’m lost when it comes to the nitty gritty how-to details of entering data and using sight reduction tables etc.

Did you see and read the extremely detailed step-by-step guide that is part of the download? That has all the nitty-gritty details.

Just downloaded. Wow. I’m going to have to hit the books for this one for sure.

Congratulations on the release, very nice work! I’m going to sit down this week and work through the tutorial.

Would there be any chance of an option to remove, or reduce the two minute delay at the expense of some accuracy to simulate earlier sextant/octants ?

Ten out of ten for a highly original and let’s face it, improbable addon for MSFS. Users, just check your screens for dust, flysh.t and other unhelpful sighting points.

Well done!

Version AO has been released.

Changes:

1 - Custom Index Error: on first run, an index error will be generated and re-used every time. Enables the IE to be used in pre-computation. IE can be changed manually by editing the ie.txt file.
2 - Added a log file, recording each shot, to help finding users’ mistakes. File is called shotslog.csv
3 - Fixed a minor error in Coriolis. Too small to notice, but needed to be corrected.
