Got this yesterday - very much enjoying it. Flight model, sound and graphics are great - has a wonderful feel as a flying weapons truck. Flight model is very nice - it feels heavy but handles like a F150, definitely gives you the immersion of flying a heavily armed beast. Flying this thing with an AB9 provides wonderful feedback for the weight and heft of the Skyraider.
Flight model is indeed pretty stable on the yaw side - but just like the Blackhawk it’s made for 23 year old airmen to provide a stable platform to fire from. This would be absolutely killer if MSFS allowed weapons. Overall - a very nice addition to my stable of WWII birds.
LOL has anyone else tried to fly inverted with the dive brakes open because omg it does NOT like that. Puts the plane into a crazy fast flat spin and the pilot blacks out. I realize that isn’t how it was ever meant to be flown but it is a bug in the flight model. Flying inverted at all kills the engine but with the dive brakes out it goes crazy.
Inverted with the dive brakes open is definitely outside the normal operating range, so can’t really speak for what happens there, never tested it. But will take a look. Perhaps you are entering a severe stall of some sort
I do agree with the previous comments about the flight model, I had to put a massive positive curve on my elevator axis (+. 7) to get it to be even remotely responsive to small pitch inputs from a desktop joystick. And once you do raise the nose above the horizon it takes an incredibly long time for it to come back down again. Rudder inputs on the other hand are incredibly snappy and almost feel robotic. That massive radial engine and propeller up front don’t really seem to have any effect on the aircraft either when moving the throttle or RPM lever.
The elevator and rudder scaling is being revised, however do consider that at higher speeds (300kias) the effectiveness of the elevator is greatly reduced. This is by design, and its something we’ve read on pilot stories. Particularly at speed, all the references seem to point to the fact that this aircraft was very stable in pitch
I was excited for this one. But after watching Jaydee on youtube testing the plane, he confirms many of the shortcomings mentioned in this thread, like no torque effect with power change, no sense of inertia or need to retrim as it seems. It looked to me like a built in damper system almost or arcade like behaviour.
The engine had a high rev sound at 2600, and went to a low end rumble at 2800, reversed?
These shortcomings (torque and inertias) are being revised - however we are still unsure about the trimming/stability aspects at high speed. From what we gather it is correct. On the elevator trim scale, you’ll see “Cruise” as one of the settings, which is only about 10-20% trim range, more than enough to keep stable cruise. On landing and takeoff, you must trim according to this indicator, which is correctly modeled in MSFs.
As for the rev sound, do you have a timestamp on the video for it?
That is good , i’m sure it will be better after some tweaking. 45:10 ish in his erster eindruck video, you can hear it go from stressed higher pitch/rpm to lower pitch/rpm after the increase, at least to my ears wearing headphones.
I’m not entirely sure, but it appears to me (given the sudden change in RPM and MAP) that the Blower (supercharger) was switched positions at that exact time. That will have an impact in the audio, that can be heard thought the rest of the video. However I cannot confirm this since the levers are not visible
Picked this up day 1 and I really love it! Can you help me sort out what I see on the radar screen when I have it running? I had lots of blips in a cluster ahead of me, as I approached they sort of bloomed and appeared all around me but there wasn’t anything to be seen. They didn’t move like aircraft would and seemed to correspond as much to heavy clouds as anything else.
How are you spawning that wingman? Multiplayer or using a 3rd party tool?
The radar will display traffic, not weather. It is possible that it was traffic located further away from you - if this happend to you again pls contact us via our support channels with screenshots and we can assist you further.
One thing we have noticed with at least two users having this problem is that they had custom control curves for other aircraft, which were affecting the Skyraider negatively. The Skyraider FM is designed for a perfectly linear controller curve, so please review that, as it has improved significantly the experience for others. This is noted in the aircraft manual
Per the manual I created a new profile just for the Skyraider. However, just to be sure I reinstalled the Skyraider, wiped every single control input and then tried again.
This is the result while cruising along around 280-300kts (input viewer included), on a clear day with no wind:
rgr will note it, particularly the pilot. FS24 I imagine?
It is possible that we won’t be able to sync the weapons configuration over Multiplayer, however. There isn’t enough variables to set for all the possible combinations of weapons on pylons.
This is also happening to me now as well - very little elevator response, especially at any speed at all. Something is interfering. Using Moza AB9, VKB STECS, no sensitivity or any other changes.
