[RELEASED] Miltech Simulations Supercarrier Pro for MSFS

Is there plans to fold the Amphibious Assault Group stuff into this product?

No - it will continue being a standalone product. Same situation with the UK Carriers.

Supercarrier focuses more on CATOBAR-type carriers since the toolbar menu is designed around FLOLS/Arresting Gear/Catapulting. However, we may also include other type of vessels (eg. Independence Class, international non-CATOBAR ships)

Does anyone else have problems with getting the tacan signals in?
It is not working for me on static or moving carrier. Tacan itself in the aircaft is working, but not the 78X or 79X. I test it in Norfolk where I am in range of the 86Y from the airport , when I am at the carrier. And this 86y is working and showing in the instruments. But not the Carrier one.

We have had a couple of people reporting this issue. By any chance do you have Navigraph installed?

We are currently investigating this issue. We cannot replicate the issue in any of our testing devices (note that we do not have Navigraph or any other software modifying nav data installed) and both ILS and TACAN work just fine.

We have reasons to believe that the issue may be related to Navigraph, as the custom navaids get overwritten by the 3rd party nav data.

Ps: no TACAN or ILS on any moving ship. Only on static ships.

Thanks for this answer. I indeed have navigraph and will make a test tomorrow without navigraph installed.

Cheers

Anyone with a motion rig have this addon?

I’ve found that the FA/18 and DC F14 output the thrust value to the longitudinal body acceleration variable, so when you’re on the catapult and throttle up, the rig tilts back like you’re accelerating. When the catapult finally launches you, it’s a non-event as the thrust remains the same. I was hoping to feel that sudden launch.

Most other planes handle this properly (not tested on the catapult yet, just standing on the brakes during a run-up) Obviously this is a per-plane issue and not with the carriers, but i doubt Asobo would even look an issue only affecting such a small % of players.

Has anyone found any proper carrier-based planes that report body acceleration correctly?

I bought this pack last week but haven’t had much time to use it lately, but I noticed last night that the arrestor wires have this odd, shimmering “bounding box” looking effect. None of my graphics settings changes seem to affect it but perhaps I’m missing something. Has anyone else noticed this and if so, figured out a workaround? (You may need to view full sized and zoom in to see better - much more apparent “live” because these lines or edges shimmer quite visibly. They are not static).

This has unfortunately been a long-time MSFS bug, and has been reported to Asobo many times by us and other developers.

These are the stock Asobo arrestor cables. Any carrier ships using the stock arrestor cables have these bounding boxes that represent where the cables should be located. If you catch one of the cables (when using an aircraft with tailhook) you will see how these “bounding boxes” attach to the tailhook as the cables should.

Unfortunately, this bug has been around since the Top Gun expansion was released, and was never fixed. In general, Stock arrestors are a hit-or-miss - not only the visible texture issues, but also they can be more or less effective depending on the carrier location. For that reason we have developed the “modern arrestors”, that replace and improve upon the functionality of stock arresting gear, but decided to also keep the stock arrestors for those who prefer using them.

Luckily there is a (partial) solution to this issue - you can easily remove the stock arrestors, and get rid of the “bounding box shimmering effect” by deleting reference_points.cfg on both miltechsimulations-supercarrier-pro\SimObjects\Boats\Miltech CVN78 and miltechsimulations-supercarrier-pro\SimObjects\Boats\Miltech USS76. However, if you decide to do that, you must use “Modern Arrestors” on all landings - regardless if the aircraft has a tailhook or not.

I made some test, with properly deinstalled navigraph and even with a complete empty community folder exept supercarriers pro, but still couldn´t get the tacan in. So there might be something else interfering. Could be something from the marketplace, and I keep trying.

That’s strange. Another customer with the exact same issue has confirmed that uninstalling Navigraph worked for him. In his case, the issue was indeed related to Navigraph.

Yeah Navigraph indeed seems to be an obvious potential conflict. But I properly deinstalled via the navigraph hub. I deinstalled also the toolbar app, the g10007g3000 app, so the complete navigraph suit for the msfs.

Just to be on the safe side, the tacan should be receivable, if we stand on the runway of the carrier? Or does it have a deadzone on the ground. I test it on the norfolk static carrier. I test 78X and 79 X. And I can get the 86Y NGU from Norfolk Airport working.

There shouldn’t be any deadzones.

Btw - we are not allowed to provide support through here. Please take the bug/support related discussions here: https://miltechsimulations.talkyard.net/latest as we may get a notice from the forum moderators.

Is there documentation with this? That’s one gripe. I can’t find it in the install package from ORBX.

SUPERCARRIER PRO UPDATES

Microsoft just came back to us after testing Supercarrier Pro - they have identified a bug that must be fixed before the MP release (aircraft spawning in the air/inside the carrier - autoteleport not functioning correctly). This issue has already been fixed, and we had plans to release the fix with V1.0.1.

To expedite the MP release on PC and Xbox, we have decided to split V1.0.1 into two updates - we will release V1.0.1 with all completed features, and push all other features still work in progress to V1.0.2. An updated changelog is available here: https://miltechsimulations.talkyard.net/…/supercarrier…

V1.0.1 will be available at ORBX and Miltech Simulations Store over the weekend. If everything goes according to the plan, Supercarrier Pro should be out in the Marketplace by the second week of October.

We wish these processes were faster, but we must comply with all requests by the testing team at Microsoft.

Yep, sorry that my question yesterday turned into a quasi-support request. It was not my intention - I did scan through the Discord but did not see the issue mentioned and thought it might be due to an incompatible mod or graphics setting, and that another user could point me in the right direction.

Supercarrier Pro V1.0.1 is now available at ORBX and the Miltech Simulation Store

  • NEW: Aircraft hangar accessible on static ships

  • NEW: Aircraft will now spawn to deck on moving ships

  • NEW: Moving carriers will now be identifiable by ICAO Code (see updated list of locations and ICAO codes)

  • Fixed bugs with spawning on static carriers (eg. aircraft spawns under the deck)

  • Collision surface fixed on static support ships

  • Other various Bugfixes (https://miltechsimulations.talkyard.net/…/supercarrier…)

Release version on MS Marketplace will be V1.0.1 (PC and Xbox)

EDIT: We’re working to fix two critical bugs on V1.0.1 - Teleport to spawn radius - reduce to 1nm or less to avoid issues with aircraft teleporting from nearby airports & MP Sync issues: aircraft spawning below the deck instead of on approach, aircraft doesn’t automatically teleport when timer ends.

A patch will be available ASAP. Please avoid using MP Sync for now.

  • MP Sync spawning under the deck fixed

  • San Diego ZC07 missing spawn point/airport

  • Added warning message when not in range of any carriers.

  • MP Autorestart improved

Hi guys.
Can’t wait for this great product to be live on Xbox.

I already own your carrier bundle, that has the Nimitz, the amphibious group and the UK carriers.
When I purchase the new Supercarrier Pro, are the existing Nimitz carriers in this budle gonna be overwritten or will they continue to exist in the sim, parallel to the new ones?

Can be used in parallel
