[RELEASED] Rara-Avis Sims Bulldog Autogyro

For those that don’t read the manual (myself included) there are two compartments either side of the rear seat that open. The right one has radios while the left has the electrical side of things plus the decal/spat/panel toggle switch.

I just saw the Bulldog yesterday on iniBuilds, insta buy  Love this strange bird, the Zippy, the beautiful Flea and the Whittaker as well. It is an incredible v(ery)STOL and the big bush wheels surely helps. Beautiful modern-retro cockpit, the compartments for switches and radio is a nice idea, the liveries are just great and have a lot of humor. Very good work on the engine sounds too. One question: is there a way to change the settings of the decals, spats and gps in order to have them activated or not by default, or maybe you could make them persistent? Anyway, another home run for RAS with this rare bird!

Yes its just a matter of changing a 1 to a 0 and vice versa to make the options the other way around, I’ll send you a DM as these forums aren’t really for support and I don’t want to get told off

I would love to get that PM.

Thank you,

Thank you very much!

Is there a paint kit for this?

Not at the moment, if there is something you have in mind I can cook something up for you.

Could you make a Ferrari Inspired skin?

One modern:

One retro:

Pretty please!!

Yeah I can give it a go

This is pretty awesome! I was on a bit of an unplanned break from flight simming the past week or two but I got an email yesterday from Just Flight about recent releases and saw this was out so had to jump back in.

I was only gonna have a quick half hour flight before bed it to see what it was like but ended up chucking it around for an extra hour before hitting the hay. Maybe it was those Duracells  It’s really fun to fly and feels very unique, not quite a plane but not quite a chopper. No idea how an autogyro handles IRL but I do like how this one flies. I had a lot of fun putting it through its paces with some pretty wild maneuvers, slow flying, experimenting with various landing techniques, dead stick landings etc and I had a blast. It looks and sounds great too although some wind effects would be nice as it doesn’t currently sound like I’m in an open cockpit exposed to the elements. Saying that, one of the reasons I’ve been away is an ear infection so my hearing is kinda shot at the moment so that might just be me.

I don’t have mine yet but i’m eagerly awaiting its appearance in the MS store. I have a few questions (unfortunately i haven’t been able to find a manual as of yet), and they may be a bit strange as tbh, if i were ever rounded upon for interrogation by other simmers, they’d find i was a sight-seeing tourist and not a pilot first and foremos hehe

So one thing that really interests me about this is the lack of wings for extra field of view, but i’m curious as to its flight ceiling. I take my flying flea pretty much everywhere, but with a flight ceiling of 6k feet that is its only weakness really as a sight-seeing plane, i stubbornly go around mountains when i need to, so i’m wondering about how high the gyro can go.

Also, how slow can it go? The videos i’ve seen of it on Youtube have people really pelting around the place at scary speeds and that’s awesome, but does its strange configuration allow for slow flight as well? The lower the better for sight-seeing as you know.

Congratulations on a really strong trio of planes for the sim so far, i’ve become a real fan of the unique and quirky choices you introduce, and the greedy git in me can only hope for more in the future.

Should be on the store soon… There is a basic manual within the package, mostly detailing the cockpit layouts.

When I was researching the data for the Bulldog I hit a brick wall, very little data to work on although that has recently changed

How slow? :grinning: I’ve got it to land at 16kts with no wind and juggling the throttle and angle of attack, it tops out at about 90kts but it can easily fly at 30kts and is nice and manoeuvrable even at slow speeds.

Here is a couple of videos of me going more slow.

Yes it can definitely travel at leisurely speeds and is lovely doing so. I was trying to get her down in the stadium there, but it’s very deep and I didn’t have space to turn and try to spiral down instead… I think it’s possible, I just don’t have the skills!

If anyone wants to try, it’s the Aloha Stadium in Honolulu :stuck_out_tongue:

EDIT: I’ve just persuaded myself to try the stadium again  Wish me luck!

EDIT 2: Managed it!!! Video incoming  Was crazy!! The brakes on this thing are weak as!!

It’s simply great fun to fly!! It’s amazing. I think it’s entering my top 10 honestly it’s that good and so unique.

If I get those Ferrari liveries ( ) it will stay in the Top 10 for ever!

Wait til you see the next video!! I’m making an edit of all the fails and leading up to success… took some work - will show warts’n’all
