[Released] SimWorks Studios Kodiak 100 (Multiple Threads Consolidated)

Try doing weight and balance before starting the flight

If it only works before starting a flight, that’s called a bug.

I have tried it, but it gets too quiet and boring in the long run

Worked a treat. Thanks again.

Looks like the Kodiak is not very optimized for VR. It’s disappointing. Hope the devs fix this !

Has anyone noticed how the Kodiak doesn’t use the GPU properly? All other aircraft in the SIM use 99% of my GPU with around 65fps, however the Kodiak only uses 65% of my GPU with 42fps.

My GPU is a rtx2080ti and my CPU hovers around 25%, and I play at 3440 x 1440, I just find it strange how this is the only aircraft that does this, has anyone else noticed this?

The standby instrument is the problem. Pull out fuse number 3 to disable it.

I have a question that’ll sound borderline ridiculous to many but for the life of me I can’t find the answer. The aircraft has been advertised as having “Five different interiors: cargo, passenger, mixed, skydive, summit (executive)”.

How to access the passenger version? I select the main Kodiak (with or without cargo pod) and then I browse through all the different liveries but they’re all named everything except “passenger”. So I can get up to 4 people on board and the rest will be boxes on top of other boxes. Need the full 9 PAX version.

The standby attitude indicator is hard on CPU usage, so it’s probably causing you to be CPU limited. You can turn it off by pulling the breaker. It’s the 6th one from the left on the bottom row. It has a 3 on it and is labeled STBY ATT. Should kick your FPS back up.

It’s called “Tundra” for some reason.

Pick a version, I recommend the split cargo/passenger version because that’s all I ever use, and am not sure which of the others have people.. Load the plane and go to the weight & balance screen. Start adding weights to the seats on the weight & balance screen. Put 170 lbs in a seat location and a person will be there when you leave the weight & balance screen.

Thanks, just read the manual and figured it out. Not sure why “Tundra” but oh well.

Thanks. I assume you’re talking about what’s called the"mixed" version of the aircraft. I can only add up to 4 passengers in there. Anything beyond row 2 is added as a box, no matter how much weight I put (170 or 190 lbs). Only the Tundra version seems to be doing the trick of up to 8 passengers and this is exactly what the manual states (but I was too lazy to read that part).

Another thing to note is that the copilot will only appear if I set his weight before I load the flight. If I add the weight after the aircraft’s loaded, then he won’t show at all.

One final thing is that the “Empty CG position %MAC” slider and all CG info below that can only be accessed by the in-game W&B screen but not after I’ve loaded the flight. So it seems it’s necessary to do just about everything via the main screens (which is fine with me, as that’s what I do with most other aircraft anyway). UPDATE: Lol, NO! After 500+ hours in MSFS, I just realized you can actually expand the in-flight W&B display by dragging it to the right…

Thanks again.

Has it been announced yet if SWS will mod their Kodiak for SU8 to take advantage of the new prop physics that Seb touted in the last dev Q&A? I sure hope so, because p-factor and torque effects are especially important for the Kodiak with that powerful turbo-prop engine…

Tundra and Summit are the names given to the different trim levels in the real aircraft, so it’s taken from that.

IF the new prop physics are good enough, then it will always be easier to use the sim’s internal workings. Having said that, I believe bugs / issues have already been found with the implimentation of prop drag . . .

So is nobody else having issue with Kodi and ILS/ Stock AP/Nano VG? Honestly I really hope they do update the plane to have real props and startup and shutdown. Would be a shame to not update this beautiful plane. Look at the Kodi on Xplane 11 it’s absolutely fantastic with a real prop. Hope all planes get a prop update.

This is something that has bothered me from day 1. Lots of stuff is faked and props look horrible faked for so many reasons. I was really surprised MFS was using fake props. GA guys will go NUTS when props are real and not canned animation sprites. Plus they run at different fps then the simulation so it catches the eye quick. Once we have real props and everything syncs up naturally it will look so much better, especially in the light.

If more testing help is needed feel free to hit me up!

Can’t remember if it’s mentioned before, but is state saving anywhere in the dev team’s plans? Their Kodiak is such a detailed implementation that state saving between flights would be absolutely fantastic (like the Piper Arrow does, which forces you to do proper startups and shutdowns).

Can I ask what folk’s experience has been with using beta range when taxiing?

I’m finding even at low beta I’m getting reverse thrust and so actually using the non-standard proceedure of feathering the prop periodically as an alternative method of keeping the speed down on the taxi.

Is there a paint kit available for this or will one be made available?
