I know PC is where it’s at for you guys but why does the rendering keep getting worse and worse for console players on XBOX Series X and PS5? Like when I change the camera even slightly and change back, the entire landscape re-renders. It is getting worse and worse every SU release.
The previous SU release before this one it was at least acceptable on Xbox Series X. Now it looks just really really bad. And PS5 standard is like Xbox Series S quality almost on how bad the landscape keeps rendering.
Not sure if there is a solution but just wanted to call this out.
Yep, it pops in on PS5 pro too. I see the rendering in front of the aircraft all the time particularly noticeable where there are a lot of trees.
It pops in blocks of areas.
Consoles aren’t the reason for PC rendering distance as consoles have their own dynamic LOD system to maintain the frame rate whereas PCs allow the user to pick a fixed TLOD range. For everything to be able to render further than the eye can see and it not be a slideshow, you’d need a PC that doesn’t exist yet
For the original question, part of the MSFS2024 logic is that the sim only loads what you are directly looking at in a bid to improve performance and save memory. So naturally, if you look away from something and then look back, it needs to reload it. It is what it is and we just have to be happy that it works
but it was working better before this update. It wasn’t that bad on Xbox Series X. Some landscapes almost non-existent. Now it’s total ■■■■ and really bad on PS5 Standard.
I think, at least on Xbox, the most annoying thing are the trees rendering again every time you move the camera. It’s very noticeable, and it looks bad.
I hope they work on a better LOD system for trees. The game definitely looks nicer in areas with no vegetation.
I think the trees are one of the things that makes 2024 look worse than 2020. In 2020, you’ve got a relatively blurry mass of trees on the blurry satellite landscape and so they blend in nicely. On 2024, you’ve got these super-detailed trees placed on blurry satellite landscape and so they stick out like a sore thumb and make the ground look blurrier than it actually is
I have a very basic non-technical understanding of why the culling happens outside the camera view and have accepted it on Xbox, but what’s baffling to me is how much worse the tree situation is in some areas than others. To see the true horrors of tree loading, check out Lapland in any aircraft. There’s nothing there to strain the console’s memory reserves, yet the trees only load right below the plane. They aren’t even visible from the cockpit, and based on what I’ve seen on A330 Driver’s Christmas flights, it isn’t any better on pc either. For some reason it works at least somewhat ok in places like Central Europe where there’s much more other stuff going on. Makes no sense to me.
Like if you fly in Chicago (Ohare or Midway), you see the downtown skyline , then when you move the camera, it disappears and then reappears like magic.
This happened in MSFS 2020 too but they ended up fixing it. I hope they can do the same in 2024 but I don’t think they really care much about the console versions.
Yes I agree. I don’t know if this is why but you had to install 2020 which could be like 300GB with all addon’s on XB. That was the only downside to 2020 on console. It hogged up the HD. But other than that, 2020 was an amazing experience on console.
