Repeated CTD's 1.18.14.0 & 1.18.15.0

For NVIDIA cards.
I searched for a long time.
I have no Addons installed, and a good PC.
The concern comes from Nvidia. They did nothing to correct it.
Worse, they impose an automatic configuration for FS2020 with “Experience” which is overwhelming.
Uninstall “Experience” first.
Uninstall your driver and replace it with the one provided on the Nvidia website (IMPORTANT: 457.30) (Easy to find)
It’s simple, when you launch the new driver, it replaces the most recent one.
Then turn off all simulator caches if you have fiber.
Put your config in ULTRA according to your configuration.
And then, no more CDT
Courage! I drove myself crazy when it was easy to fix.
Besides, Asobo should have given the trick. No ?

I forgot. Lower the FPS to 30. And that’s great …

Thank you! It is a fact that if I remove all AI planes out of the community folder, there is no CTD. What I have done is added 7 FSX AI models from 2 creators (FAIB and AIA) with about 6 textures each. Started at KJFK with default Cessna 172.

Where as before it would CTD shortly after selecting airport, now it ran for a few minutes After a few of my AI planes started showing up, it CTD. I noticed that new files with CVT extension were created with texture files for SOME, but not all of the textures in the community\simobjects\airplanes<AI model> folder. I launched MSFS again selecting KJFK again. Ran for less than a minute and CTD. Repeated again with same result. I looked at these CVT files again and by my fourth or fifth attempt, I probably had texture files for what I would consider the textures for the airlines that operate out of KJFK. Now, I relaunched MSFS again. It has been running flawlessly for the last hour.

I suspect these CVT files are created when AI planes are spawned either at the airport for departures or near the airport for landings. Maybe whatever process creates these CVT files might be where an issue may lie. Is this of any help?

Congrats on your find, and illustrates why the first question that gets asked when someone reports crashes is “Have you emptied you Community folder?”

Livery packs are known to cause various issues, from crashes, to pink textures.

Out of date mods can also wreak havoc, typically after a major update, as the developers just haven’t had the opportunity to check they are still compliant.

then, as @hobanagerik mentioned, and I former too, you found the issue in your case. Be happy about, some users fight as unknown reasons with crashs.

Some mods creates dynamicly files and may be , with an outdated version, there are issues then. I compare it often with shaders, which made trouble in some games and needs manual removed.
Its just the old topic, that mods needs often an update if a new msfs version comes out ( and in special with major changes ). This is for other games just the same… sometimes it works, sometimes not. Some other games have like “official mods” which are pre-checked that they also works fine with the new game-version, but these are of course a limited amount of mods and often simple these one which are selled as DLC. The game developers can just not check each free mod which exist in the world.
Therefore also the hint exist while update procedure , in FAQ, etc to “remove the mods” first, then update. May be in future, if the game api becomes in generally more “grown”, this situation will be a bit more “relaxter”.

I managed a transatlantic flight in safe mode today, almost 7 hours without a hitch! Yesterday I had CTD after CTD! My only add ons are Navigraph and the Longitude mod, trying now with the Longitude mod and no Navigraph!

Please let us know what you find on the longitude mod? I have turned off real time weather and live traffic and I have four flights with no CTD. Prior to this every flight CTD nearing destination airport?

Around 2 hours into my flight and all good so far! I sure hope I don’t jinx it now…

I had real weather and live traffic turned on for my transatlantic flight and no problems!

Does the stock longitude fly ok now?

It seems to be fine yes, no fluctuations as far as I know!

I just had a CTD but it wasn’t the usual memory related one!

EDIT : Just reading up on this error, it could be XMP related so I will try the default setting for my ram and hope it fixes the problem!

Hello, i have tried a lot of suggestions from the Forum but nothing helped. I tried your solution too and installed the Driver from NVIDIA. Nothing happend for me.
The Community Folder is empty. No Mods at all. Changed Drivers. Installed the Game two times.
I have CTD when i move the Worldmap fast or when i am pressing the Fly Button.
Still hoping they will fix it.
Everything was fine with WU4.

6 clean flights with real time weather and real time traffic turned off! Longitude update 1.85 is in the community folder? Prior to turning these features off, all flights ended in CTD?

Your guess?

You have good internet? Hopefully somebody more tech minded can help you!

I just completed my flight successfully with XMP disabled, fingers crossed this solves my problem but I fear it won’t be my last CTD!

8 flights today, about 6 hours total. All had live weather, and all but one were live weather. No crashes. I haven’t had a crash with the hotfix yet.

The hotfix has broken my game but I will go through the complete list.

My problems is : start CTD and cannt finish 1~2 hours flight with default a320.
By the way,no add ons. CTD even restart in safe mod as suggested. Maybe restart pc is needed.God knows.
Expecting xp12,when are u coming?

It sounds like something is slowing or interrupting your data. So please explain:

What type of drives you have (SSD,HDD, external etc.) and how your sim is set up between them?
What file system each drive is using, how full are they and how well maintained?
Is your virtual memory set to be Windows managed?
Your ram size and speed?
And of course details of your GPU and CPU?

Just curious, Have you tried running without real time weather and real time traffic?

Well forget that!

Just CTD with all those features off!

Nuts

I have tried both with and without and I still don’t CTD, or did you actually mean to ask someone else?

Yet another CTD after only a short time…sigh! Its so frustrating because the sim is awesome when it works properly! I wish we could go back to before SU5 when it worked flawlessly for me, I’m wasting no more time tweaking and hoping they fix it soon!
