Does anyone know what this CTD is about?

After many days without a CTD with my new computer, I clicked “Fly Now” and the sim crashed! That never happened once on my old computer, I’m hoping its a one off!

Well I’m back!

After server came back up I now get CTD when using the map? Usually it’s in flight CTD? Also notice a constant message “connection lost switch to offline”. I monitor my internet connection and there is not a problem here that I can see? The sim automatically reconnects most of the time. Does anyone know the internet disconnect timeout for connection lost message? I.e., 10ms, 1sec,….

Nothing more to say except, if I can get 2 out of 3 good flights, I can except this!

NTFS solved my Problem with CTD when i used the Map or by klicking the Fly Button. Check it out!

About CTD:

Surely i started CTD right after the su5,su6, but recently not anymore. I recall what i did .

  1. stay empty of community fold ,not intall add on for a while.
    2.update windows and msstore.
3.just select normal mode it msfs ask safe or normal mode when that picture started.

After 1~2 weeks, msfs seems normal and never CTD. Ps. i still didnt take a test flight for more than 2 hours yet.

My main issue was my ssd was exfat and once I formatted to NTFS everything worked and is still working with zero CTD issues. Very pleased after I fixed

yeap !

I call it Microsoft Crash Simulator

Just landed in Teterboro after a nice tour of New York, and as soon as I landed it CTD !
Come on !!!
What a s**t Sim ! …very immersive, no doubt !

Thought I had this fixed, but now CTD every flight after update! Don’t think this is related to update. Just normal since SU5 ? Use to get 3 to 5 or 6 good flights in a row without CTD? These are random

Origin Gen
I9 clocked 4.8
RTX 3090
64gig

Performance Hardware status showed absolutely no loads and actually msfs2020 is running at 12% CPU with GpU 1 load of 54%
Gpu2 20%

Internet connection running about 5% of capacity

RAM usage about 12% of 64Gig

CPU 12% load

Any other Origin PC or RTX3090 users seeing this?

Will say, scenery is beautiful!

Last two posters have something in common, darned well good dream about probably want to do some light bitcoin mining on the side 3090s

Edit: Finding where I fly is a huge issue, curious to know if users try “other airports” including smaller GA experiences.

Edit #2: as in I have come to accept I can at this time in no way load a plane at Ronald Reagan without CTD

They all seem to have in common (the last few posts):

Exception code: 0xc0000005

All traffic is still off. I don’t have anything in community folder. I don’t run any 3rd party plugins or airplanes.

If i do a short flight, I can usually complete it without a CTD. For flights longer than 20 minutes (cruise), I get CTD descending through ~6000ft (from ~24000ft), approaching final to airport. Happened on multiple flights to different destinations. I only fly VR (Oculus Quest 2) and used the TBM on all flights with CTD so far.

wow Just got my first crash to desktop with no messages. It CTD then restarted the sim. I was flying from ROIG to RJSR with A330-900 Neo, 30 mins in to climb it just crashed wow. what happened and the weather is working I think, I said I think because I still don’t see the weather options on the toolbar. Help anyone

Yeah just in case you missed it it’s telling you that MSFS crashed

In a way that should be avoidable.

Error 0xc0000005 is an Access Violation Error. Generally this error means that some part of the code tried to act on memory location to which it has no permission, did not allocate or that cannot be addressed. Also if you search this thread for 0xc0000005 it comes back with far more results than I thought.

Well yes but any app that CTDs generally throws up an access violation error, it’s not as if it’s a particular process within MSFS so on it’s own it really is of little value except to tell you it crashed.

It’s still too early to say but in my case (Error 0xc0000005) it helped turning ON Data Execution Prevention to full. If your FS2020 gives you the same error after crashing (in Event Viewer/Applications) you might want to try enabling DEP too.
Right-click (alternate-click for left handed) the Orb (aka “Start Button”) and select “Run”. Type “sysdm.cpl” and press 'OK". In the “System Properties” window that opens up, click the “Advanced” tab, then under “Performance” click “Settings”. A new window pops up named “Performance Options”. Click the “Data Execution Prevention” tab and select the second option “Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select:”. Click “Apply” then “OK” and OK out of all windows, then restart your system and try flight simming again.
Not to get your hopes up but I was never able to complete a flight from KTVL or KRNO to KLAS because the sim would crash with Error 0xc0000005 as soon as I descended below 8000 feet near KLAS (~4 flights/attempts in the last week or so). Today I was able to complete KRNO to KLAS for the very first time after turning DEP on to full (not just for “essential Windows programs and services only”, as it is by default). Ymmv.

For me, that error was so random, and fortunately now rare, that I could not really atrribute any single action to fixing it.

Since SU6 was installed I have had two CTD’s. One was just as I loaded a LNM exported plan into the map screen. The other it was as I was just setting up a flight, perhaps selecting a plane. Both were listed as “0xc0000005”.

I’ve not had any crashed while in flight.

Just a quick post to report that, after turning DEP on (as per my previous post), I was able to complete ~10 flights of about an hour each with the TBM in VR (a couple of flights even longer) and not even 1 CTD (0xc0000005 Access Violation). Still too early to say but very promising. I was never ever able to complete a flight longer than 20 minutes before enabling DEP for all programs.

Wow!

Anything is worth a try! We’ve tried 150 things since su5 to no avail — 0xc0000005 is the same result! We do get a couple good flights then CTD! We will try this and see? Be nice if the developers could fix this?

CTDs yes

I need a better machine?

Still wondering what’s in common with these CTD machines—RTX3090, new high end PCs, over clocked processors? How can some PCs run this application without any problems at all? We need to understand everyone’s hardware to see if there is something in common with these CTD PCs!

The forum needs to start a topic charting PC specs with a column “CTD “. Yes or no!

Well,

It was worth the try, but CTD after 4 flights! I think it’s time developers started working on this problem! We have been trying since SU5! We have all put a lot of effort into this problem to no avail! I guess developers are as lost as we are, but perhaps one day they will get to this? My CTDs are always gone after trying something in this forum? They always come back after a few flights?

We are reading about new PCs right out of the box CTD

We are reading PCs with the best updates and latest drivers CTD

It’s not Nvidia drivers
It’s not GForce Experience
It’s not Cache size
It’s not clearing cache
It’s not something in the Community folder
It’s not the drive format
It’s normally not related to Win 10 updates
It’s not related to real-time weather
It’s not related to real-time traffic
It’s not DEP
Is it related to OC machines?
Is it common to Origin gen PCs with RTX3090

Mmmmmm, wonder what happened at SU5?

Is this problem related to high end machines?

Do mid grade machines have this problem?
