Dear Devs,
VR users really need more love. Right now, it’s extremely difficult to keybind the many essential aircraft functions without relying on workarounds through Developer → Behavior. Even then, several crucial functions remain completely inaccessible—one example is the keyboard icon on the G430/530. In VR, this icon isn’t bindable or usable via the keyboard, and there’s currently no way to interact with it properly (for example, by mapping it to ENTER or another key).
We’re already in SU7, yet many core quality‑of‑life features for VR users are still missing. On top of that, the same function can have different “input values” depending on the aircraft, and the generic control options simply aren’t enough.
Please consider improving the VR control binding system and ensuring consistent, accessible inputs across avionics. These changes would make a massive difference for VR pilots.

I’d suggest taking a look at Axis and Ohs (or one of the other similar programs.) They give you the ability to access the sim variables and commands and basically bind them to anything you want - Keyboard, Joystick, Steam Deck, etc. I have several aircraft that I’ve got set up in the Steam Deck Mobile app that I connect to with an iPad. I use Virtual Desktop’s hand pass through to be able to use the iPad during VR sessions. Just be aware that it will take several (if not more) hours to configure if you go this route.

Indeed. Some third party software is all that’s required. I’ve never quite understood why simmers spend good money on hardware and then limit it by trying to do everything via the limited in built control binding system. It’s akin to connecting your expensive new sound system with bell wire.

That’s what I do at the moment. But that’s exactly my point - we shouldn’t look for complicated walkarounds…
An example of a suggestion that can make our lives easier: Long right/left click (or whatever combination) on something in the cockpit should open an option named “bind me”. Pressing it will transfer us to the controls page allowing us to bind it to what ever we want.
Moreover, there are controls that you can’t bind or it’s complicated to to setup…
All those thing can be developed without a huge investment of time and can make the life of all users (and VR users in particular) way better
I think the point you are missing is you can do those things just not with the limited default binding system Microsoft provide. It’s like default aircraft, ATC or airports. All limited withord third party solutions. Bindings are the same and after 6 years now unlikely to get any better like those other things. Help yourself and go third party.
