Some of default aircraft are good.
Not study level, but I can say they mid to high in depth.
I really like flying H225, C404, C408, A400M, H125, CH-47D, Skycrane, A330 and Beluga. There are few more, but doesn’t come on my mind right now. I am flying them and will in future.
They are not in depth like A2A, or PMDG but for price you bought the sim, they are quite good.
But I also, agree that they will need more to focus to core sim. Just for one reason, make good foundation for addons and make good environment.
And about aircraft, everyone have different wishes. Someone want to fly comercials, other want GA, another one military, so particular person will buy or download free aircraft which suits the most he’s wishes.
I am not very demanding simmer, so for me iniBuilds level is good, but someone else is not satisfied. There are people satisfied with Captain Sim.
And here we see again the MS simply DOES NOT care what hardcore simmers want. FS2024 is a game, not a simulator. Gamers want more aircraft, more activities. I wish Asobo had a say in this but ultimately Microsoft decides what features will be added - those that encourage more buyers, which equals more profit. Padding the wallet is all that matters. We would never pay to get multi-jetway support or enhanced bogey contact points, which we all feel should have been there from Day 1, so they’re never going to add that when they could devote that time for paid DLC.

When they said 2024 would have a career mode I thought ‘oh well, another thing I’ll never use, like missions and activities’. And I won’t; it’s not my thing, I’m here to simulate the aviation experiences I want, the way I want, and that’s all. But as long as the platform is open to everyone like Microsoft so often says it is, everyone should be happy, right?
Except… the existence of career mode is now affecting me and limiting my ability. Like this encryption issue. And features they added to the sim, like firefighting (which would be great for multi-player), SAR etc are not available to everyone, only to those grinding career mode. Simmers who don’t want to grind are excluded. That is not ‘the skies are open to all’.
This is not what flight simulation is supposed to be, as far as I’m concerned. A flight simulator should be an open platform for simulating aviation activities and scenarios. If you want to build an RPG on top of a platform like that, then OK; but it should be first and foremost an open platform for simulation where all features are accessible to all users unless they specifically choose to limit themselves by following the RPG path. That’s not what we have today, and I worry that the sim is going to go further and further down the RPG-first path until it basically is an RPG.
I would really like to be wrong, but stuff like this sets my spidey-sense tingling.

I would like to ask for a confirmation. If I understand correctly, the developer does not want to unencrypt the planes and helicopters.
Then this means that we cannot create unique camera views, modify the flight model, add new paint variations.
In fact, they are taking away the experience of creation and modification from the users, which would be very important for us.
I’d go as far as to say critical. It was the modding community that made the early versions of FS2020 viable, opened up a world of possibilities, and continued to push improvements that made it spectacular. That they brought several of those same teams into the fold then walled off the garden is really a confusing decision.

Welp…
We now kind of have unencrypted planes (to some extent, which I can’t determine) as of the update today. However, the second file I went to open caused the VFS, MSFS, and Windows Explorer to all freeze up. On top of that we still have no reload button.
Why are we having to fight and argue for things that were working just fine in 2020? We’ve gone so far backwards

Can you at last download planes? I see that now you can go to “my library” and see which planes are being streamed and which are installed, however I haven’t been able to install them. Any ideas?
Testing that is “next” but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t very disheartened by every interaction I have with MSFS so I sort of take it slowly…
edit: I see no spot to select downloaded or not though I could have missed it. It’s not in the obvious spot in the content manager anyway

Purely based on file size (as I don’t feel like locking up my system again), the Premium and Premium Deluxe planes are still encrypted but the base game planes are not - at least for the small sample size I checked

At some point. It was originally going to be this month with the opening of the marketplace but it seems marketplace opening is going to be delayed and download ability too.
What I don’t understand is why they can’t open up downloading of those things early because unlike the marketplace stuff they are already working in MSFS, just streamed.
As someone with a monthly data cap but one month I can go over and already having used a lot this month I’d love to be able to go ahead and download all that stuff and not have to worry so much about my data usage each month. I’ve got the rolling cache pretty high but I’m not sure it’s doing much when I’m switching between a bunch of aircraft.

Hello everyone, I wanted to give an update now with update 1.2.7.0
while this update gives un-encryption to standard aircraft we still face the issue of mesh-compression for importing a lot of the models.
what this does give is the ability to solve the placard issue on iniBuilds liveries that I mentioned in my first response to this topic.
I’m currently trying to work on that but VFS keeps crashing lmao

Yeah I’m similarly having MSFS crash within a couple of files being opened via VFS so not exactly got the smoothest workflow figured out for making liveries 
Seems like the option to download aircraft and airports still isn’t available after the latest patch? Can anybody else confirm that the ability to download isn’t possible with this patch?
This. From User perspective I feel like FS24 launches me back to SU4 / SU5 era in terms of general stability, but that’s beside the point here.
From development perspective this is worse than anything we had in 2020, ever. To check usage of RPN components in core aircraft in 2020 all I need to do is run a Notepad++ search across all XMLs in MSFS local files, 60-180 sec and done, it’s fast and convenient.
In 24 I need to trudge through VFS, but don’t go too fast or open too many things or it will crash. Development at the speed of continental drift. I don’t think many users are aware of the consequences. I keep hearing it will improve, just like 2020. No. They severely hindered our possibility to improve things. Improvements didn’t happen magically, people made them happen, and now they can’t.

I gave it a few more tries and it’s consistent. The VFS crashes or freezes up after very, very little activity (ie accessing very few files), leading to a sim restart at best or computer restart at worst.
What a mess
I figured FS24 would be more of a step sideways but we’re taking big steps backwards.

The more things I try in 2024, the more clear it becomes that Asobo studio made a lot of harmful compromises in pursuit of new, hopeless, stillborn ideas such as aircraft streaming.
So far we have only seen them harm complex aircraft like HPG H225, without fixing things they were supposed to fix, like MP model matching.
The sooner they realize this will never work reliably for wider userbase, the better. At this point I fully expect the sim to be re-released without aircraft streaming in 1-2 years as MSFS 2026 or whatever edition they want to call it. This will not work, it’s a dead end. They just don’t seem to know it yet.

I vote too for that.. It would be nice to have access to the file in order to modify the flight model… I hope they will open this access ..
Some stock aircraft flight model are not accurate and even worse than 2020..
Is it on the good way to unlock this ?
