It’s not added to MSFS2024 either! That’s incredible. I’m really wondering why. I can’t make any sense.
Because of priorities. It was more important to add things like unrealistic walkarounds, how the pilot and copilots look, making photos of wildlife. Not to actually have the airports up-to-date, that would be crazy.
Apparently, being a wild life photographer in a flight simulator is more important than one of the world’s largest airports.
With more than 76 million passengers in 2023 LTFM is Europe’s 2nd busiest airport after Heathrow. There is really no excuse that MS/Asobo again have forgotten about this airport. It’s just a shame.
Five years past after msfs released. I do not think Asobo forgot LTFM. It is a consciously made decision not covering LTFM. I do not know why, but result is crystal clear at the end.
I’m very sorry that LTFM is also missing in fs 2024, I don’t know the reasons but it’s a real shame
LTFM is one of the largest airports in the world, but a new one! Microsobo did not implement it because the airport database is that of MS2020!. LTFM was inaugurated at the end of 2018 and FS2020 was launched in August 2020 but it takes time to to build an airport also in simulation. Microsobo had not time or did not want to spend time to make it because it would not have been FS2020 ready.
I worked in an airport in France and I remember a colleague telling me that one day she had to escort a guy with a camera that took hundreds of pictures of the airport on the apron side of absolutely everything. He was in charge of developing a project for a simulation software and so he needed the exact 3D dimensions of all the airport buildings. He then went back to his computer and a scenery for MS2020 was later created. This is not a quick job to do because this mission has to be approved by the local authorities (airport, police) and then it can go ahead. It takes months from the initial request until the release.
By the time LTFM was inaugurated FS2020 was almost ready to be sold and it was to late for Microsobo and so LTFM is not in FS2020.
For FS2024 Microsobo used the same database as for the FS2020 because they did not want to invest a lot of time and money, and so LTFM is not an airport for them. FS2024 had to be Santa Ready and that was the most important thing.
LTBA Ataturk was closed to airline companies in April 2019, almost five years ago…
For sure LTFM must be added by FS2024 !
This is the current situation at LTFM in MSFS2024 even after SU1 although there WAS a scenery in Dev Alpha.
Surely some one hates Turkiye so much so that they removed it from initial product and do not want to include LTFM even after 5 years from opening and ranked 10th busiest airport in the world last year. Well, let’s be fair, at least they cleared most of the forest since MSFS2020.
Either Mr. Jorg from MSFS or Mr. Marcial from Asobo should present a clear and acceptable explanation to this ignorance. It should not be so hard (and I personally saw that in Dev Alpha) to create a simple FLAT airport scenery using their state of the art(!) AI systems. Guys, you owe this to simmers!
Complaints regarding duplicated runways within the freeware scenery when using it with Navigraph Navdata clearly is because of this as there is NO DATA related to this massive airport in base data files.
P.S. If I, at this age and with minimal knowledge about the SDK, could do what I did in the past 5 years contributing to create a scenery for the airport, million/billion $ companies should certainly do better, i.e. if they WANTED it, of course.
I’d love to see a Türkiye world update with a handcrafted LTFM.
Have now downloaded a fantastic freeware for LTFM from flightsim.to. I highly recommend this. You also have to download an extra file providing many (not all) of the necessary nav aids for instrument procedures.
It’s nice and the best thing it’s free-will do the job for now.
It’s nice and the best thing it’s free-will do the job for now for my needs.
Anyone notice there is a nice LTFM now in default MS2024? Multiple IFR approaches, Arrivals and departures? I’m on my way now to do the ILS Z 35R there and see what it looks like.
Regards
