Returning to Flight Simulation: VR in 2024

YES…36fps with ASW on!! That means your getting a nice 72fps in reality. Hows it fly?? And hows the visuals?

I am loading back in now - let me see where I am and what settings I left it at

I did not realize this part of the thread was happening in real time until I looked at the time stamps.

I am waiting with anticipation on Major’s findings. I know the feeling when everything just clicks into place and that first flight with absolutely smooth gameplay happens. Its magical!

Good luck Major!

So in short, if you are using DirectX12 in game, go in settings and make sure the frame generation is OFF.

I use DX11 but rarely fly in 2D - well I say that…

So mixed results good and bad.

I had to start with TAA and the ASW off to maintain fps of about 25fps. When setting up in both the ATR and PMDG 737. If I use DLSS I can’t read the FMS as it’s blurry. but good fps.
When I take off I change to DLSS to maintain an FPS as with TAA on taxi my FPS drops to 15fps. Then once airborne I have to put ASW on and swap to DlLSS to maintain an average fps of 30.

Close to decent I had to do the reverse and turn ASW off and then maintain 25fps.

This became a useful topic gents. Will bookmark it and read it back once the 2024 game is available. :+1: :fist_right:

For the cable for the Q3 is the Meta cable the choice of users and would that make any difference to me thinking things will not work whatever I do if I swapped my Amazon bought cable for the Meta cable.

I prefer the official meta link cable mainly because it’s thin, light, and flexible. Also, connected to my z790mb usb3.2 gen2 type-c port it maintains my Q3 and QPro headsets at +80% for a very long time (+5-6hrs). If you buy it from Amazon it’s very easy to return for a refund if it doesn’t work well for you. Up to you if you want to give it a go or not.

Thank you both for your input on the cable

Hey guys,

FYI: Using this cable without any restrictions, problems with my Q3 - also charging during connection.

Happy landings!

I could never get decent frame rates using the cable. It was either better frame rates, but blurry cockpits with DLSS, or bad frame rates and crystal clear cockpits with TAA. I went Virtual Desktop and that really really changed things for me. I run on a mixture of high and ultra settings, TAA and get a good smooth gameplay. It does get a little stuttery in very busy airports, but greatly improved over the cable. I have the offical cable if I ever need it again, but so far I have not. I am running the game with a Ryzen 7 3700x, 32 gigs of memory and at the moment an RTX 4080. Previously a RTX 3060

Boys I think I have it…. I think I do

Going back to that video from VirtuSim(superb to listen to) ….tremendous

@Cornhole2840 posted on Tuesday I reset both OTT and OXR to the same settings he had. This also meant max FR to 45fps on OXR

I then on OTT set ASW off and started with 1.2. But had slightly blurry cockpit but 45fps. So I went and upped this to 1.25 and my frame only dropped to 36fps. But clear as a whistle and in the dark!

Thank you thank you to you all I am so pleased

…and on the day my step dad sadly passed away so calmness and peace and this forum might have done this …well it did
