REX Accuseason installing into wrong folder (Windows 11)

For anyone wondering if they are seeing REX Accuseason or not, check your installation…

I’ve just done a clean install of Windows 11 and MSFS, including REX Accuseason, but their installer installed the scenery into the C: drive directly and not into the Community folder when I selected the ‘Windows Store Edition’ option in the REX Accuseason installer.

I had to click on the ‘Custom Community Folder Location’ and then select my actual Community folder for it to work.

I didn’t have any issues on my previous Windows 10 installation, so just a heads up for anyone struggling if you’re on Windows 11.

For anyone who wants to check, you should have REX folders in your true Community folder.

YMMV

It is not a problem if the program itself is installed on C:\ as long as inside the program you make it point to your community folder. I think it makes no sense to install the program itself into the community folder.

Hi
As a beta tester, I can tell you, the program should be installed under C:
And IN the program you point to your community folder.

A few points of clarification.

  1. REX AXIS (which is their manager) - Needs to be installed in the root of C:\ or it will not work (unless they finally fixed this bug)

  2. REX Products obtained form AXIS (AccuSeasons, Advanced, Global Airport Textures, WeatherForce, etc…) can be installed wherever you like

  3. Each REX Product, once installed, has another interface / manager that allows you to specify where your Community Folder is (Steam, MSFS, Custom).

Either I didn’t explain this well enough or I didn’t explain this well enough :see_no_evil:

REX Accuseason installs to C: root as intended.

The problem is that it then when you use the app to install the scenery, it creates and then installs to an incorrect location:

*C:/Packages/MicrosoftFlightSimulator...../LocalCache/Packages/Community/

That folder that should not exist. This is not where the Community folder is.

REX need to fix the linking of the Community folder so that it actually works.

The workaround for now is to choose a custom folder and then choose your actual Community folder.

In the image below, the REX installation is in the wrong location in the top and where it should install to in the bottom.

Which version did you select in order to get that Path? (Steam or MS Store)

I’ll test it out again.

I have to think it’s something on your end, support would be blowing up if it was a widespread issue with the installer.

I don’t see any problem with the installer screen.

Istall where?

  1. MS Store default location
  2. Steam default location
  3. Any location other than the default and specified by the user

I can’t tell anything from the file screenshot but it isn’t File Explorer.

And you need to consider that MS uses Symbolic Links to the actual physical location
of the folders/files.

It’s amazing how a message gets misunderstood by so many people.

REX are aware of the issue and I’ve marked this as solved.

The problem is that the Accuseason Control Panel, not the installation panel, installs into the wrong Community folder on a new install in Windows11.

It creates its own Community folder on the C: Drive and doesn’t respect the setting in the installation panel.

If you see Rex Accuseason folders in your actual Community folder, then it’s working as intended.
