REX AccuSeason Released Today

@Hester40MT

No worries …

Last payware bought until MSFS is fixed … CRJ is fixed … REX “accu”season is working like “suggested” on their website … what a frustrating mess … nothing is working like advertised.

MSFS has a cap the radius of how much displays and in a recent discussion, the Asobo team stated that they did not want to increase it any more than the current limits due to performance issues.

A slider that gives the user the option to set the LOD switching distance and the display distance of vegetation and buildings would be the easiest way. At the moment, both limits are far too close to the aircraft and significantly reduce the fun of flying. MS / Asobo have promised that there will be no reduction in graphics quality when the Xbox version is integrated. But that is exactly what it is, a reduction in graphics quality. And now they also promise that nothing will ever improve on this for performance reasons. Personally, I don’t find that so exciting.

Ok so what’s the deal with this addon, can I see the trees from 30k or not? I have a monster of a system so adjusting LOD is not a problem, just want to make sure that it all works. I see some posts in here about graphics reductions related to xbox so not sure.

Also, anyone tried both this and this B-something guy’s mod? If so, which do you prefer? I’m only interested in opinions from guys who have tried both.

TIA!

Hi tempmoe. Good question. Being able to see trees from 30k is totally dependent on your LOD settings within the simulator and this is driven only by the MSFS codebase. Therefore, if you use this product, a different product, or no product at all, the radius that trees display is the same. There is no product that extends the radius of distance that trees display. Hope that helps.

if you have a ‘monster of a system’, you can edit the LOD’s above what the sim intended.

I run my LOD’s at 700% myself, and I can see individual trees from FL390.

If you want to try, go into your usercfg.opt file with notepad or some tool like that, and manually edit the values there. The top half of the file is for pancake screen settings, the bottom half is for VR settings.

Fair warning; this will be a MASSIVE hit on your CPU (main thread) performance.

{Terrain
	LoDFactor 7.000000
}
{OffscreenTerrainPreCaching
	Enabled 1
	Quality 3
}
{ObjectsLoD
	LoDFactor 7.000000
    }

I’m just curious why you would go to all that trouble? There is no way that you can see individual trees in a forest from FL390 unless you crank up a high level of zoom. Personally, I never do that in flight as it is not realistic. Human eyes do not have zoom lenses

There’s far more to a higher level of detail than just trees. Personally I’ve experimented with higher LOD’s but 400% is the sweet spot for me.

Wow reading this makes me thankful that graphics card have no longer pricetags that were mere a label of insanity buying such a scalper-ware but went down to ~600€ thanks to the Radeon6000 series flooding the market.
These exquisit LOD settings are not possible with some tiny on-board Vega11 graphics chip in the Ryzen CPU, and a graphics card might be the next upgrade :slight_smile:

Finally true wonderful autumn flair with red/brown trees, lot´s of eerie rainy days around Halloween, beautyful colorful nature and some deep fog-like clouds.

Look how impressive the fauna looks at 6:40. Wonderful. REX was always a classic add-on in old FSX days (REX clouds and whatnot) and I am happy seeing them coming back to FS20 :slight_smile:

@HalberQuacky

I do not care about individual trees. I though this addon would bring realism !

If all the trees are brown at 1000ft … i expect brown collored forest patches at FL300 also.

Now there is winter at 1000 ft …… AND SUMMER at FL300 ( green forrest patches ). The higher the greener.

Increasing LOD to the impossible ( for me ) will mean the brown visability extends upwards also …

It’s no fault of the mod, but a limitation of how the MSFS graphics system works. I assume the Bijan mod is affected the same way. I have only done one flight at high altitude since installing the package, (FL320) and there was solid cloud cover, so I have no idea if brown trees were visible or not.

When (or if) Asobo implements native support for seasons this may change.

Sure no problem … IF ONLY REX WOULD MAKE THAT CLEAR ON THEIR WEBSITE … i would not have bought

Merry Christmas :christmas_tree:

Does this add-on works with the latest beta version?
I’d like to buy it, or else I need to wait for the official release of the actual beta
Thank you

It works just fine with the beta, I’m using it right now.

Can anyone who has it take a screenshot of the winter foliage around KOBI and KVAY?

Especially out away from the airport. I tried the other guy’s tree mod, and it only shows seasonal vegetation right in close to the airport. Everything else is green.

Hi Tempmoe. Here are a few shots I took of KVAY. I will take some of KOBI a bit later for you. These show the area with some different weather so you can see a bit of variety.

Hi tempmoe
Here are some shots around and away from KOBI. I included some with and without snow. Thanks.

Hye,

I have RexSeason and Bijan.
I fly in France.

REX trees are too brown in winters. In the Alps, in the forests in France, the trees in winter are gray (those with leaves), not brown. :(. In autumn yes, but not in winter.

REX trees are OK with less leaves in winter than Bijan trees.

The REX tool is simple. I use it with the bijam gray mask.

REX Please make a less brown version for the winter. (I tried the 4 winters)

So far, I’m mixed.

Hi,

there’s snow in automatic mode?

I done the steps but can’t get dead of winter to load up. It’s loading up with green trees. Even with autogen on it still show like its summer time.

Hi SerpaFox. Weather is done via the weather functionality in the simulator, so if you want to see snow, generate that via the weather settings. Thanks.
