Rex Atmos Core

Hello, guys! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend and you are listening to Guns N Roses - November Rain and you are soaring the virtual skies in this wonderful simulator that we have here :))

I was searching this forum but I couldn’t find anything regarding this situation that I have with Rex Atmos Core: I am trying to install the app but everytime I do, right when it’s supposed to start copying the files on my hard drive, it asks me if I am sure I want to cancel the installation even though I don’t press any buttons whatsoever. And whatever choice I make when this pop-up comes up, the installation stops.

Anyone has any ideas why this keeps happening?

This sounds more like a Rex Atmos issue than a sim issue. Tried contacting them directly?

No, I haven’t done that yet, I just encountered the issue and I was trying to figure out a way around it, but I will also write a ticket to Rex because you are right, it has nothing to do with the simulator. Thank you!

Did you try running the installer as an administrator?

I had a similar issue with mine. I am on SU4 Beta and the Beta test version Rex released had the issue. The original version worked fine with SU3.

However I’m not sure if that’s still the case as I won’t go back to SU3.

I do remember seeing something about this on Rex’s Discord channel.

The Beta version of Rex did work with SU4 Beta 1.6.1.90.

In the meantime I wrote a ticket on Rex Axis about this issue and they said that I have to run the installer as admin but this doesn’t seem to resolve the problem. Maybe they will investigate this further and resolve it in the next beta release or the next full release.

If I try to install the latest full release version of Rex Atmos Core, that one works, but the beta, for me, it has problems.

Anyways, thank you for the suggestions!

All nice and dandy but the beta period has ended. We are now on final SU4.

Announcement on Rex Discord. I used the beta today with SU4 and had no problems.

I just purchased REX Core. And according to what I’ve found on the web, a new version came out on December 29th, which should work with MSFS 2024 SU4. But unfortunately, the app crashes just upon loading. I’ve tried un- and reinstalling, but still no joy. Why is that?

Hello, I also had a problem with launching the installer for Rex Atmos which I wrote about it previously but since the official release of the product (8.1.2025.1210) I had no problems installing and running the app on my computer.

If the version that released on December 29th is not a beta version of the app, you can write a ticket on Rex Axis website and they will come back to you with an answer in a couple of days. If it’s a beta version of the app, they clearly stated that they do not offer support for those type of versions, unfortunately.

Thx for your answer.

It’s the official and stable release, if I got it right. I’ll contact the official support.

Same problem, client crash

I just picked up REX Atmos core thinking it would be to add in to some atomospherics…. Well, it won’t even run, says that I am not a verified used, which I am. No where to enter the serial #, just won’t run. I’ve reached out REX and followed all the troubleshooting and FAQs.. This is rediculas…

PLUS not happy with having to turn on my Security settings and full access through my firewall…. Is it just me or does that just not feel right???

Did anyone else have these installation/running issues? I’m 10 minutes from reaching out for a full refund.

Hey man, I can guarantee you that this product is not a virus and it’s a normal procedure to allow it to run through your firewall and it won’t affect your system at all. The second matter, regarding the start up of the app, you can try running it as Administrator on your system and see if that works and also, try to register to the Rex Axis website and download the latest version from there, not the Beta one.

But to be honest with you, I don’t think that for the moment Rex Atmos is as efficient in 2024 as it was in 2020 simply because of the fact that 2024 is a much better looking simulator.

Good luck!

The support was great. I had a MS teams meeting with a very nice guy from Canada. He could solve my issue and now Atmos Core is running. Although it can interfere with the weather system (happened once for me on many flights), the results are really good. I love the atmospheric scattering effect. Especially on clearer days with good view. It makes a huge difference for me personally. Well worth yhe money.

Just for advice to anyone wanting to use this, I picked it up yesterday and had a real hard time trying to get it to work, spent half a day installing and uninstalling, and only after reaching out to support, but before I received a reply, I figured out what was wrong….turns out I was being scuppered by having windows running on a secure DNS. As soon as I turned that off and just used my ISP provided DNS settings, I was able to run the app straight after.
